2014 Dakota State University Athletics Annual Awards
Seth Boomsma (2014) - Track & Field (Outstanding Male Athlete)
Seth Boomsma was picked as the DSU's Most Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year award.
Boomsma is a four-time NAIA All-American status at Dakota State. He was the national runner-up in the men's 60-meter dash in the 2014 and 2013 NAIA Indoor Track & Field as well as two-time NAIA Indoor Track & Field All-American. He was a 2013 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field All-American in two events – the men's 100-meter dash and the men's 4 x 100-meter relay (which set a new South Dakota Collegiate record time of 40.68 seconds).
Boomsma is a four-time North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Indoor Track & Field Runner-of-the-Week, holds the DSU school record in the men's indoor track 60-meter dash with a time of 6.74 seconds. He has also participated in the track community service events as part of the NAIA's Champions of Character's initiative program, which included a clothing and shoes donations.
Seth is the son of Terry and Stacey Boomsma of Crooks, S.D. He is a junior Exercise Science major at Dakota State University.
Kylie Westover (2014) - Women's Basketball (Outstanding Female Athlete)
Kylie Westover was selected as the Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year award. She was an All-Conference selection for two straight seasons.
Westover led the team with 13.3 points per game and drained 71 3-pointers (third most 3-pointers made in a single season in the Lady T's record book) this season. She surpassed the 1,000-point club during Lady T's 63-61 road victory at Midland (Neb.) on Nov. 1.
During her stellar four-year career at Dakota State University, Westover racked up a total of 1,403 career points. Her career points are the fourth all-time scoring in the Lady T's basketball record book. She has 237 career 3-point field goals made, which is the second most career 3-point field goals made in the record book.
Westover was named to the first-ever NSAA Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week.
Kylie is the daughter of Rich and Kelley Westover of Colman, S.D. She is a senior Business Management major at Dakota State University.
Jordan Snyder (2014) - Men's Basketball (Outstanding Male Athlete)
Jordan Snyder was this year's recipient for the Dusty Andersen award for his outstanding accomplishment in men's basketball. He returned to the Trojan men's basketball team after a year of absence for military trailing and played in 22 games, averaging 5.0 points and 5.9 rebounds in his senior season.
Snyder posted his career-best 62.1 percent from the field, making 41 field goals in 66 attempts. He helped the Trojans advance to the first-ever North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Postseason Championship game.
Snyder was an integral member of the DSU men's basketball team that won the first-ever Association of Independent Institutions Men's Basketball Postseason Tournament Championships, and advanced to the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament for the first time since 1992.
Snyder finished his career with 4.2 points (345 career points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Trojans.
Jordan is the son of Jayson and Lana Snyder of Hartford, S.D. He is a senior Business Administration at Dakota State University.
