E-mail: Cory Miller
The Dakota State (S.D.) University football head coach Josh Anderson is excited to announce the hiring of Cory Miller. Miller is the next defensive coordinator for the Trojan Football program, which he started his duties last week.
Prior to coming to Dakota State, Miller was the defensive backs and special teams' coordinator for three years at Briar Cliff University (Iowa) from 2012-2014. He held a similar position at Illinois College in 2011.
Miller, a native of Marshalltown, Iowa, also oversaw Illinois' special teams squads and travel arrangements. His defensive backs led the conference in interceptions and were ranked in the Top 10 nationally in that category. Miller was the defensive backs coach and special teams' coordinator at MacMurrary College in 2010.
He earned his undergraduate degree at Northern Iowa from 2001-2005 where he also began his collegiate coaching career. He served as a student assistant coach, helping with the Panthers' running backs at UNI. From 2006-2007, he was a graduate assistant at Southwest Minnesota State University and was promoted to defensive line coach after one season. Miller remained on the SMSU coaching staff until 2008, when he became the defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Rockford College where he remained until the spring of 2010.
While at Rockford, he also served as the team's academic coordinator and managed the college's intramural program. He earned his master's degree from Rockford in 2010.
Miller currently resides in Madison.
