Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs

Daidrick Kibbie enters his seventh season as an assistant coach for the Trojan football team.  He is the defensive coordinator for Dakota State this fall.  He was a student assistant coach for two seasons.

He was the interim defensive coordinator in fall 2025, leading the Trojans to one of the top defensive teams in the NAIA and the Frontier Conference.  Dakota State's defense established itself as one of the nation's elite units, finishing among NAIA leaders in several key categories.

DSU ranked fifth nationally in points allowed per game at just 16.5 points, fourth in total points allowed with 165 points, and third in total defense by surrending only 249.0 yards per game.  Dakota State also ranked third nationally in pass defense, allowing just 155.8 passing yards per contest, while its rushing defense ranked seventh at 93.2 yards per game.

The 2025 Trojan defense set three school records during the season, holding an opponent to minus-2 rushing yards, allowing just 64 total yards in a game, and recording a school-record shutout performance against the pass by not allowing a single passing yard.

Kibbie coaches the defensive backs for the Trojans as they went 6-4 overall record in 2022 and 2024.  Dakota State’s defensive backs were ranked fourth nationally in interceptions during the 2021 season, leading to its winning season for the first time since 2017.  The Trojans also completed its first perfect 4-0 North Star league record at Trojan Field since its conference inception in 2013-14.

Kibbie coached pair of 2-time NAIA All-American defensive backs at Dakota State.  He guided a two-time NAIA All-America defensive back Noah Guse and Deveon Moses, as a first team selection in 2021 (Guse) and 2024 (Moses, third team selection in 2025 (Moses) and honorable mention recipient in 2020 (Guse).  The Trojans’ defense team accumulated 21 interceptions in 2021, led by Guse who broke the career interceptions with 19 and single season record with eight.  His eight interceptions also tied for most interceptions in the NAIA.  In addition, Guse was also named to the NAIA Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week twice during his career at DSU.

Kibbie coached 17 All-Conference defensive backs (including honorable mention recipients) since 2020.

He also coached the jumpers for the Trojan track & field teams through from 2018-22.  His two high jumpers qualified for the 2022 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships.

Kibbie was a dual athlete for the Trojans in 2017-18 season.  He was the safety on the DSU football team, recording 22 tackles in 2017.  He also ran track at Dakota State.
