Mike Caniglia is in his fourth season with the Trojan Football program. He will serve as the defensive secondary coach and special teams' coordinator. Coach Caniglia was previously on the DSU football coaching staff in the early 1990's (1991-93), his coaching duties then included coordinating the defense and coaching the defensive secondary. Coach Caniglia has over 20 years of coaching experience that included stops at the junior college, NCAA Division I-AA and Division I levels. Coach Caniglia had the pleasure to be a part of these outstanding colleges and universities which included Arizona State University, University of Wyoming, University of Idaho, Arizona Western College and Dakota State University. Coach Caniglia had the opportunity to coach in three post-season bowl games while on the staff with Arizona State University (10-1-1) final national ranked No. 4 and the University of Wyoming (10-3) and (11-2), ranked as high as No. 5 nationally. The Division I-AA playoff round was with the University of Idaho (9-4) which lost to Georgia Southern 28-27, who won the national championship in 1990.
Coach Caniglia attended Northern Arizona University and Southern California College, receiving his Bachelors of Arts Degree from Southern California. He then earned his Masters' of Science Degree from the University of Wyoming in 1989.
Coach Caniglia has two children - Lory Marie and Mariah. Mariah is attending Dakota State University.
