Nate Van Asperen is entering his first season as the offensive line coach for the Dakota State University Trojan football team. 

Prior coming to Dakota State, Van Asperen was the tight ends and running back coach at NCAA Division II Southwest Minnesota State for two seasons.  He held the position as the assistant offensive line coach during the 2019 season.

Van Asperen played collegiate football career at SMSU.  He was a two-year letter winner, playing 22 straight games at guard and center.  He was the recipient of the 'Ben Bundy' Lineman of the Year following the 2018 season. 

He began his college football career at Sacramento City College (Calif.).  He was an integral member of the football team that won two consecutive bowl games (East Bay Bowl and State Center Bowl, 2014-16).  He was a team captain and All-Conference recipient.

Van Asperen is a 2019 Southwest Minnesota State graduate with a bachelor's degree in political science.  He is currently pursuing his master's degree in education with an emphasis in sports leadership and expect to graduate in December.
