Sam Gooding is entering his first year with the Trojan Football coaching staff as Tackles & Tight Ends coach.

Prior to coming to Dakota State, Gooding served three seasons as a student assistant at the University of Illinois and one spring semester as a recruiting assistant.  Over his three seasons with the defensive staff, Illinois improved its record each year, culminating in a Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl berth in 2014.

Gooding, a native of Decatur, Ill., graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's degree in History and a minor in Secondary Education.  He is pursuing his Master's degree in Educational Technology while at Dakota State University.
