Taylor Hauge is entering his ninth season as a member of the Dakota State cross country and track & field coaching staff, his sixth season as the head sprints/hurdles coach, and second season as the assistant Head Cross Country Coach.
During Hauge’s time as the head sprints/hurdles/pole vault coach, his athletes have garnered four (4) national runner-ups, sixteen (16) NAIA individual All-Americans, two (2) All-American relays, forty-four (44) individual national meet qualifiers, nine (9) relay team national meet qualifiers.
In the North Star Athletic Association, Hauge had twenty-six (26) NSAA individual event champions, sixteen(16) NSAA relay event champions, one-hundred-nine (109) NSAA All-Conference individual athletes, and twenty-four (24) NSAA All-Conference relays. In his first year in the Frontier Conference, Hauge had one (1) All-Conference cross country athlete, five (5) FC individual event champions, twenty (20) FC All-Conference athletes, seven (7) FC All-Conference relays. Between the two conferences, Hauge has one-hundred-twenty-nine (129) All-Conference Athletes, thirty-one (31) individual conference event champions, thirty-one (31) All-Conference relays, and sixteen (16) relay conference champions.
Since 2021, his athletes have broken twenty-eight (28) school records (men’s 60-meter hurdles, women’s 60-meter hurdles, men’s 110-meter hurdles, women’s 100-meter hurdles, women’s indoor 60-meter dash, women’s indoor 200-meter dash, women’s indoor 400-meter dash, men’s outdoor 400-meter hurdles, women’s outdoor 800-meter run, women’s outdoor 10,000-meter run, men’s indoor pole vault, men’s outdoor pole vault, men’s indoor heptathlon, women’s indoor pentathlon, men’s outdoor decathlon, women’s outdoor heptathlon, women’s outdoor 4 x 100-meter relay, men’s outdoor 4 x 400-meter relay, men’s outdoor sprint medley relay, women’s outdoor 4 x 200-meter relay, women’s indoor 4 x 400-meter relay, the women’s outdoor 4 x 400-meter relay, women’s indoor distance medley relay, men’s outdoor 4 x 800-meter relay, women’s outdoor, 4 x 800-meter relay, women’s outdoor distance medley relay, men’s indoor 300-meter hurdles, and the men’s outdoor 400-meter hurdles.) and added 206 marks in the Dakota State “Top 10” list.
Hauge’s athletes have helped Dakota State University win six (6) men’s North Star Athletic Association Indoor conference championships, five (5) NSAA men’s outdoor conference championships, and DSU’s first ever women’s Frontier conference outdoor championship. Hauge was also the assistant cross-country coach for the women’s cross country NSAA conference championship in 2019 and five (5) men’s NSAA cross country conference championships.
At the 2026 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Steins finished 8th in the women’s heptathlon with a score of 3478 points. Her 8th place finish is the highest finish in that event in school history. Grinde earned his highest place at a national championship with a 4th place finish in the men’s decathlon with a score of 6982 points for All-America status. The men’s 4x800 squad of Nolan Slominski, Cody Farland, Franklin Johns, and Tyler Nicke finished 4th in an electric final for All-America status and to help Hauge earn his 2nd relay All-American group.
At the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships, Grinde finished 6th in the men’s heptathlon with a score of 5181 points for All-America Status. Amelie Steins finished 7th in the women’s pentathlon with a school record score of 3478 points to earn All-America status. Her 7th place finish is the highest finish in that event in school history.
At the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Tysen Grinde finished 5th in the men’s decathlon with a score of 6556 points for All-America Status. Minear finished 6th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.20 for All-America Status.
At the 2025 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships, Minear finished as a runner-up in the heptathlon with a school record score of 5317 points for All-America status. His runner-up place finish is the tied Treshawn as the highest finisher in that event in school history. Minear also finished 5th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.03 which earned him another All-America status
At the 2024 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Roberts finished as a runner-up in the decathlon with a school record score of 7,172 points for All-America status. His runner-up place finish is the highest finisher in that event in school history.
The 2024 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships were quite successful for Hauge and Dakota State. Treshawn Roberts finished 2nd in the heptathlon for the second time in his career with a score of 5,154 points, which earned him NAIA All-America status. Chantz Minear finished 5th in the heptathlon with a score of 4,989 points to earn NAIA All-America status and was an All-American in the men’ 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.12 seconds, becoming Hauge’s first ever hurdle All-American. The points scored by Roberts and Minear helped DSU’s men squad place 9th at the NAIA national meet, which is DSU’s highest placing in school history.

At the 2022 NAIA Indoor National Championships, Roberts was 7th in the heptathlon with a score of 4,721 points which earned him his first ever All-American status. He would go on to get 6th at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in the decathlon with a score of 6,325 points for his 2nd All-American honor.
During the 2021 indoor track and field season, Qua Johnson finished 7th in the men’s 60-meter dash with a time of 6.95 seconds at the NAIA National Championships, becoming Hauge’s first ever all-American. At the 2021 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Hauge’s men’s 4 x 400-meter relay team of Riley Greenhoff, Joshua Snook, Alex Derr, and Brenner Furlong came in ranked 21st and finished 6th in the nation. The relay team broke a 37-year record by almost three whole seconds with a time of 3:13.54. That relay squad was Hauge’s first All-American relay.
Hauge graduated from Sioux Valley High School in 2012 and continued his education at Dakota State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer network and security. Hauge ran cross country and track & field at DSU from 2012 to 2017 and was part of the 2014 men’s cross-country team that won the first ever NSAA title for DSU.
Hauge later attained his master’s degree online in coaching and athletic development from West Virginia University in 2022, where he graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors.
Hauge and his wife Lyndsay Hauge reside in Sioux Falls and have a 4-year-old golden retriever named Henry.
