Alec Rathje

Alec Rathje begins his first season as the Dakota State University Trojan women's soccer assistant coach.

Rathje comes to Dakota State after spending a season at Stephens (Mo.), located in Columbia, Mo., as the assistant soccer coach in 2024.  The squad qualified for the America Midwest Conference (AMC) postseason tournament. 

Rathje's coaching experience also included as the assistant women's soccer coach at the University of Indianapolis (NCAA Division II school).  He began his coaching career as a student assistant coach at Wayne State College in 2019, leading the team to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament for the first time in 13 years.

While at Wayne State, Rathje served as the men's club soccer president from 2020 to 2022.  He graduated with a bachelor's degree in sports management at WSC.

He was a graduate assistant women's soccer coach at NCAA Division II Tusculum University in 2022, where they made the South Atlantic Conference postseason tournament for the first time in four years.  Rathje received his master's degree in sports management at Tusculum.

He currently has a USSF Grassroots 11v11 license. 

Rathje, who was born in Nebraska, is a native of Madison, Ind.
