SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) played an exhibition game Tuesday night at the Stewart Center, visiting their former long-time conference (South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference) foe University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) in Lady T's basketball exhibition game. The Cougars defeated the Lady T's by the score of 90-70.
Dakota State's overall record remains at 4-2. USF, a member of NCAA Division II school and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), remained undefeated in three games this season.
The Lady T's earned the first lead of the game at 2-0 after a basket by Erin Rabenberg with nineteen minutes and four seconds left in the first-half.
DSU's lead was short-lived as the Cougars went on to score 12 straight points to grab a 12-2 lead with 14:38 left in first. The Lady T's were able to cut USF's lead by two points at 17-15 with 9:21 remaining before intermission after a 13-5 scoring run.
Sioux Falls closed the first-half with a 29-13 scoring surge to extend their lead to 46-28 by halftime.
USF shot 45.9 percent from the field in the first twenty minutes of the game (17-of-37), including 7-for-17 from the 3-point range (41.2 percent). DSU was 35.7 percent from the field (10-of-28) and 1-for-2 from the 3-point arc (50 percent).
The Cougars maintained their lead for the rest of the game. The Lady T's could get no closer than 16 points on two occasions – 75-59 with 5:46 left (after Madison Walford's 3-pointer) and 78-62 with five minutes left (after BreeAna Olson's 3-pointer).
Sioux Falls scored 44 points in the second-half while Dakota State tallied 42 points. USF shot 50 percent from the field (19-of-38) compared to DSU 41 percent (16-of-39). The Lady T's were 5-for-12 from the 3-point arc in the second-half.
Four DSU players scored in double digits, led by Courtney Hulstein with 15 points off the bench. She was 5-for-8 from the field, including 3-for-5 from the 3-point line and made two free-throws. Sharee Galbraith, Olson and Rabenberg each added 12 points (each made five field goals). Jayda Swenson and Walford each scored five points.
Galbraith grabbed eight rebounds for the Lady T's. Olson and Kennedy Wagner each had five rebounds. Galbraith and Olson each had a blocked shot.
Galbraith produced five assists for Dakota State. Wagner recorded four assists. Rabenberg and Hulstein each had a steal.
Teagan Molden and Taylor Varsho each had 13 points for the Cougars. Jaicee Ulmer and Amber Paden each added 12 points. Marie Malloy had 10 points.
Paden led USF with eight rebounds. Alison Klostergaard added six rebounds. Sam Knecht recorded four blocked shots.
Varsho dished our seven assists for Sioux Falls. Malloy had four assists.
USF shot 48 percent overall from the field (36-of-75) compared to DSU 38.8 percent (26-of-67). The Cougars made 11 3-pointers in 29 attempts (37.9 percent) while the Lady T's made six 3-pointers in 14 attempts (42.9 percent).

Dakota State continues their action on the road this weekend in the two-day Northwestern (Iowa) Classic. The Lady T's return back to regular-season play and face the host-team Northwestern, No. 15 in the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball 'Top 25' Preseason Poll, on Friday night at 8 p.m. On Saturday at 2 p.m., DSU plays Grand View (Iowa). Both games will be held at Bultman Center in Orange City, Iowa.
