DSU hit triple digits in 103-80 victory over Grand View (Iowa)

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Three Dakota State (S.D.) players scored 20-plus points Saturday afternoon, helping the Lady T's to a 103-80 victory over Grand View (Iowa) on the second day of the Northwestern (Iowa) Classic at Bultman Center.  The Lady T's split a pair of games in the classic.

Dakota State lifted their overall record to 5-3 while the Vikings dropped to 3-6.

DSU and GVC went through two ties and six lead changes in the first 10 minutes and 12 seconds of the game. 

Leading 31-30, the Lady T's outscored the Vikings 14-5 in the final 4:51 of the first-half to gain a 45-35 halftime advantage.

Dakota State shot 50 percent from the field in the first twenty minutes of the game (15-of-30).  DSU was 4-for-9 from the 3-point line and made 11 free-throws in 15 attempts.  Grand View was 14-of-31 (45.2 percent) from the field in the first-half, including 7-of-13 from the 3-point arc.  The Vikings missed all four free-throw attempts.

The Lady T's kicked off the second-half with an 18-8 scoring run to earn a 20-point lead at 63-43 with less than 16 minutes remaining and never looked back.

DSU had the biggest lead of the game at 83-58 with 9:13 left in the game.

The Lady T's shot a blazing 58.3 percent from the field in the second-half (21-of-36).  DSU drained nine 3-pointers in 15 attempts (60 percent) and was 7-of-8 from the free-throw line.  GVC was 18-of-41 from the field (43.9 percent) and 3-for-9 from the 3-point arc.  The Vikings were 6-for-13 from the free-throw line.

BreeAna Olson and Kendra Lindblad each poured in 22 points for Dakota State.  Lindblad was 7-for-12 from the field – with six 3-pointers – and made both free-throw attempts.  Olson was 8-for-18 from the field and 3-for-5 from the 3-point line.

Sharee Galbraith added 21 points for the Lady T's.  She was 9-for-9 from the free-throw line.  Erin Rabenberg scored 17 points on her 7-for-9 shooting from the field and 3-for-4 from the 3-point line.  Madison Walford had 10 points.  Kennedy Wagner scored seven points off the bench.

Walford earned nine rebounds for Dakota State.  Jayda Swenson added five rebounds.  Galbraith, Rabenberg, Wagner and Jordan Hansen each had four rebounds.

Rabenberg led the Lady T's with five assists.  Walford, Galbraith and Lindblad each dished out three assists.

Rabenberg stole the ball three times for DSU.  Walford and Olson each had two steals.

Taylor Nashert tallied 23 points and dished out six assists for the Vikings.  She had five steals.  Britny Halleland had 18 points.  Maddie Westergard had a double-double of 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.  Taylor Bianchi had 12 points.

Dakota State shot 54.5 percent overall from the field, converting 36 baskets in 66 attempts.  The Lady T's nailed down 13 3-pointers in 24 attempts (54.2 percent).  DSU was 18-of-23 from the free-throw line.

Grand View was 44.4 percent shooting from the field in the game (32-of-72).  The Vikings were 10-of-22 from the 3-point line.  GVC only made six free-throws in 17 attempts (35.3 percent).

DSU won the rebounding battle over GVC 42-38.

Dakota State won't return back to action on Saturday, Dec. 6.  The Lady T's visit Waldorf (Iowa), a future member of the North Star Athletic Association next season.  Tip-off from the Hanson Fieldhouse is set for 2 p.m. in Forest City, Iowa.
