MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State University Lady T's basketball team returned back home at DSU Fieldhouse Tuesday evening after a month-long stretch on the road.  The Lady T's struggled in the game as Midland (Neb.) never trailed, earning a 62-44 non-conference victory.

Dakota State fell to 6-4 overall record.  Midland, a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference, improved to 5-6 overall record.

Both teams struggled to find scoring in the opening minutes of the game.  The Warriors opened up with a 14-4 lead with eleven minutes and eleven seconds left in the first-half.

Trailing 19-8, the Lady T's went on a 5-0 spurt to cut MU's lead to 19-14 with 6:13 remaining before halftime. 

Midland regained their double-digit lead by closing the first-half with an 11-5 run, earning a 30-19 halftime advantage.

The Warriors were 11-of-32 from the field (34.4 percent) compared to the Lady T's 7-of-21 shooting (33.3 percent) in the first-half.

MU maintained their double-digits lead for the rest of the game.  DSU could get no closer than 10 points at 37-27 with 13:52 remaining.

Midland outscored Dakota State 32-25 in the final twenty minutes of the game.

The Warriors shot 12-of-31 from the field (38.7 percent) in the second-half.  The Lady T's were held to 29.2 percent shooting (7-of-24).

Courtney Hulstein scored 12 points off the bench for DSU.  Madison Walford added nine points.  Jordan Hansen had seven points.  Sharee Galbraith had six points.

Galbraith led Dakota State with six rebounds.  Hulstein added five rebounds.

BreeAna Olson, Galbraith and Hansen each dished out two assists for the Lady T's.

Galbraith recorded three blocked shots for DSU.  Jayda Swenson, Kennedy Wagner and Walford each added a block.

Kendra Lindblad stole the ball three times for Dakota State.  Walford, Hulstein and Wagner each had two steals.

Jaylan Spencer came off the bench and scored a game-high 16 points for the Warriors.  Dani Andersen added 10 points.  Joelle Andersen and Taylor Shepard each had nine points.

Shepard earned six boards for Midland.  Joelle Andersen and Spencer each had five rebounds.

Sammi Licari dished out six assists for MU.  She stole the ball six times.  Jamilah Johnson and Rachel Stara each had four steals.

Shepard and Spencer each tallied two blocked shots for the Warriors.

Both teams struggled from the field, shooting well below 40 percent.  Midland shot 23-of-63 overall (36.5 percent) from the field compared to Dakota State 14-of-45 (31.1 percent).

MU was 3-of-19 from the 3-point line (15.8 percent), while DSU was 2-of-17 from the 3-point arc (11.8 percent).

The Warriors went to the free-throw line 22 times, converting 13 free-throws (59.1 percent).  The Lady T's were 14-of-19 from the free-throw line (73.7 percent).

Midland had a slim rebounding advantage over DSU, 39-38.

A total of 53 turnovers were committed in the game – 33 turnovers by the Lady T's and 20 turnovers by the Warriors.  MU outscored DSU 26-13 in points off turnovers.

Dakota State concludes their two-game home stand against another member of the GPAC on next Wednesday (Dec. 17).  The Lady T's welcome their in-state rival Mount Marty (S.D.) in a non-conference game.  Tip-off from the DSU Fieldhouse is set for 7 p.m.
