Lady T's earn first win of the season, rout Lions 82-33

ELLENDALE, N.D. – All 12 Dakota State (S.D.) Lady T players scored in the game Tuesday evening at Ray Ulmer Fieldhouse, cruising to an 82-33 non-conference victory over Trinity Bible (N.D.).  The Lady T's never trailed in the game as they held the Lions to a season-low 13.2 percent shooting from the field.

Dakota State improved to 1-6 overall record.  Trinity Bible fell to 2-2 overall record.

The Lady T's opened up a 14-1 in the first eight minutes of the game, racing to a 19-5 lead by the end of the first period.  DSU was 6-of-15 from the field in the opening quarter, while TBC did not make a field goal in 14 attempts.

Dakota State outscored Trinity Bible 24-8 in the second-quarter to grab a 43-13 halftime advantage.  DSU was 41 percent from the field by making 16 baskets in 39 attempts, including 4-of-10 from the 3-point line.  The Lady T's were perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line in the first-half.  TBC struggled from the field in the first twenty minutes by going 2-of-23 from the field and made 9-of-10 free-throws.

The Lady T's outscored the Lions 39-20 in the final twenty minutes of the game to secure the victory.  Dakota State was 42.1 percent from the field in the second-half (16-of-38) compared to Trinity Bible 16.7 percent field goal shooting (5-of-30).

DSU was led by BreeAna Olson on her 7-of-12 field goal shooting and made both free-throw attempts for 17 points.  Lindsey Vogl scored a career-high 15 points off the bench as she shot 6-of-12 from the field and drained three 3-pointers in six attempts. 

Kelley Criddle scored eight points (4-of-6 field goals) for the Lady T's.  Kennedy Wagner had seven points.  Britley Plautz, Jamie Tebben, Shelby Vogel and Casse Hand each tallied six points.

Tebben pulled down eight rebounds for Dakota State.  Wagner and Vogel each added seven rebounds.  Jordan Hansen had six rebounds.

Hansen dished out three assists for DSU.  Plautz, Cassie Jones and Wagner each added two assists.

Tebben stole the ball three times for the Lady T's.  Plautz, Jones and Hansen each had two steals.  Plautz and Kelsey Poppen had two blocked shots.

Jaylen Newman scored a game-high 18 points for the Lions.  Shaylyn Steinheuser added seven points.

Rebecca Olsson earned eight boards for TBC.  Newman had seven rebounds.  Steinheuser and Rachel Church each registered two assists.  Brynn Crockett recorded three steals.

Dakota State shot 41.6 percent overall from the field, converting 32 baskets in 77 attempts and made six 3-pointers in 17 attempts.  Trinity Bible was 7-of-53 from the field and 1-of-16 3-pointers.

DSU was 12-of-15 free-throws (80 percent) compared to TBC 18-of-26 from the free-throw line (69.2 percent).

The Lady T's outrebounded the Lions 54-30.  DSU also outscored TBC 46-2 in bench points, 35-4 in points off turnovers, 44-10 inside the paint and 21-1 in second-chance points.

Dakota State steps aside their regular-season play next Tuesday (Nov. 22).  The Lady T's play an exhibition game against former long-time member of the South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference (SDIC) and current NCAA Division II Sioux Falls (S.D.).  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Stewart Center.
