ELLENDALE, N.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) recorded season-highs in field goal percentage (62.1 percent) and points (90), cruising to a 90-35 road victory at Trinity Bible (N.D.) Tuesday evening at Ray Ulmer Fieldhouse.
It was the first win of the season for the Lady T's, ending their five-game losing streak and improved to 1-5 overall record. Trinity Bible fell to 2-1 overall record.
DSU opened up by scoring 10 straight points and never trailed in the game. The Lady T's converted four straight field goals from three different scorers (Ashlyn Macdonald, Jessi Giles and Alexis Robson) for a 10-0 lead with eight minutes and twenty-two seconds left in the first period.
Dakota State led 25-8 by the end of the first quarter. The Lady T's outscored the Lions 30-11 in the second quarter to stretch their lead to 55-19 by halftime.
DSU shot a sizzling 67.7 percent from the field in the first-half, making 21 baskets in 31 attempts. The Lady T's drained nine 3-pointers out of 15 tries.
Dakota State led 75-24 after the third quarter.
Eleven different Lady T players scored in the game, paced by Giles' with a season-high 21 points. She was perfect 9-of-9 from the field, including 2-of-2 from the 3-point line. Her 9-of-9 tied for the third-best single-game field goal percentage in the record book (Sheila Haack – 9-of-9 field goals versus Dakota Wesleyan, S.D. on Jan. 10, 1999).
Alexis Evans tied her career-high 14 points (6-of-8 field goals) and pulled down four rebounds for DSU. McKenzie Hermanson and Cheylee Nagel each added nine points. Robson had eight points. Madison Norris tallied seven points and dished out three assists. Raven Patton had six rebounds.
Chambre Droste led the Lions with 10 points and three rebounds. La'Anna Golden added eight points and three steals.
Dakota State converted 36 field goals in 58 attempts in the game. The Lady T's were 10-of-21 from the 3-point arc (47.6 percent). Trinity Bible was held to 35.9 percent from the field (14-of-39 field goals).
DSU was 8-of-13 free-throws compared to TBC 4-of-5 free-throws. Dakota State outrebounded Trinity Bible 31-14. The Lady T's outscored the Lions 52-2 in bench points.
Dakota State steps aside their regular-season play on Thursday evening. The Lady T's conclude their six-game stretch away from the field DSU Fieldhouse, visiting NCAA Division II Augustana (S.D.). The exhibition game for DSU is set for 7 p.m. at Elmen Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
