Jimmies dominate Lady T's in Jamestown, N.D.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Jamestown (N.D.) women's basketball continued its dominance of Dakota State (S.D.), cruising to a 100-41 non-conference victory at Newman Arena Monday evening.  The Jimmies never trailed in the game and outrebounded the Lady T's 51-28.

Dakota State fell to 1-10 overall record.  Jamestown improved to 9-7 overall record.  Both DSU and UJ were former conference members in the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC), Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) and North Star Athletic Association (NSAA).

The Jimmies raced to an 8-0 lead, forcing the Lady T's to burn their first timeout with eight minutes and nine seconds on the clock in the first period. 

DSU ended their scoring drought with a pair of free-throws by Jessi Giles with less than eight minutes left in the first (Lady T's trailed 8-2).

Jamestown went 10-of-18 from the field (55.6 percent), ballooning their lead to 30-8 by the end of the first quarter.  Dakota State was 3-of-9 from the field (33.3 percent).

UJ outscored DSU 17-14 in the second quarter to gain a 47-22 halftime advantage. 

The Jimmies maintained control for the rest of the game, outscoring the Lady T's 53-19 in the second-half. 

Raven Patton led Dakota State with 10 points off the bench.  Cora Peterson added eight points.  Kelley Criddle and Alexis Evans each tallied six points.  Patton, Criddle and Peterson each went 3-of-5 from the field.

Ashlyn Macdonald pulled down five rebounds for DSU.  Olivia Breske dished out two assists.  Alexis Robson and Cassie Hand each recorded two steals.  Hand and Criddle each had a blocked shot.

Thirteen UJ players scored in the game, with four players with double-digits.  Mackensi Higlin scored a game-high 14 points off the bench.  Paige Schmidt added 12 points.  Olivia Anderson had 11 points.  Emma Stoehr scored 10 points. 

Noelle Josephson and Correy Hickman each pulled down six rebounds for the Jimmies.  Stoehr, Mya Buffetta and Kasey Harper each produced three assists.  Josephson and Lissy McCulloch each registered three steals.

Jamestown shot 53.6 percent overall from the field (37-of-69) compared to Dakota State 26.3 percent (15-of-57).  The Jimmies were 10-of-25 (40 percent) from the 3-point arc, while the Lady T's were 4-of-25 3-pointers (16 percent).

UJ went to the free-throw line 21 times, making 16 free-throws (76.2 percent).  DSU was 7-of-9 free-throws (77.8 percent).

The Jimmies outscored the Lady T's 61-28 in bench points.

Dakota State steps outside of the regular-season play Tuesday evening.  The Lady T's face another former conference foe, visiting NCAA Division II Sioux Falls (S.D.) in the final exhibition contest of the season.  Tip-off from the Stewart Center is set for 6 p.m.
