MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) outhit College of Saint Mary (Neb.) 56-53, but committed 14 service errors and 28 attack errors as the Trojans fell short in four sets Tuesday evening at DSU Fieldhouse. The Flames won their ninth straight match to stay undefeated at 9-0 overall record.
Set scores were 22-25, 25-19, 25-19 and 25-20 in favor of CSM.

- The first set saw a see-saw battle between the Trojans and Flames with eight ties and three lead changes. Trailing 16-14, DSU sparked an 8-2 scoring surge to open up a 22-18 lead. CSM could get no closer than two points, as Maddie Polzin sealed the first set with a kill to give DSU a 25-22 victory.
- With CSM leading by two points at 12-10, the Flames went on to outscore the Trojans 5-1 to widen their lead to 16-11. College of Saint Mary never trailed for the rest of the second set, evening the match at 1-1 after a 25-19 victory.
- The Flames rushed to a 20-9 lead in the third set before the Trojans attempted a comeback. DSU went on a 10-3 scoring surge to cut CSM's lead to 23-19. The Flames closed the third set, thanks to .333 hitting percentage, with a pair of kills by Amber Anderson and Kamryn Willman for a 25-19 victory to take a 2-1 match lead.
- Dakota State grabbed a 13-12 lead in the fourth set. College of Saint Mary went on a 9-2 run to earn a 21-15 lead, fueled by five kills combed by Kamryn Willman and Daryn Willman. The Trojans crawled back into the game after a 4-1 run to trim CSM's lead to 22-20. The Flames would close the match by scoring the final three points for a 25-20 victory.
Inside the Box Score
- Barbara Briceno posted her 21st career double-double after smashing a match-high 16 kills (.231 hitting percentage) and collecting 15 digs for the Trojans. Polzin added 12 kills (.242 hitting efficiency). Payton Johanneson and Kelsey Pearson each added eight kills.
- Nicole Sarringar paced the Trojans' offense attack with 25 set assists, while her teammate Rachel Johnson added 24 assists. Johnson, Samantha Zell, Briceno, and Peyton Groft each registered a service ace.
- Groft led DSU's defense with 18 digs. Johanneson had five block assists. Pearson recorded three block assists.
- Three CSM players recorded double-digit kills, led by Elizabeth Dlouhy with 14 kills. She also had six block assists. Kamryn Willman added 13 kills and Anderson with 11 kills. Natalie Patten had 26 assists, while Alexis Petry had 17 assists. Payton Robley tallied 19 digs.

- College of Saint Mary hit .261 in the match (53 kills with 18 attack errors in 134 attempts) compared to Dakota State .178 hitting percentage (56 kills with 28 errors in 157 swings).
- The Trojans committed 14 service errors in 84 serves (.833 service percentage). The Flames registered a service percentage of .958 (4 service errors in 96 attempts).
- CSM had 12 team blocks compared to DSU 7 team blocks.

Dakota State travels to Glendale, Ariz. this weekend to play four matches in the Arizona Christian tournament. The Trojans open up their tournament play with two matches on Friday afternoon, taking on Park-Gilbert (Ariz.) at 4 p.m. (Central Time) and SAGU American Indian College at 6 p.m. (CT).
All tournament matches will be held on the Arizona State West's Devil Fitness Complex (4701 W Thunderbird Rd.).
