DICKINSON, N.D. – Peyton Groft reached a career milestone at Dakota State (S.D.) Saturday afternoon, despite a 3-2 road North Star Athletic Association setback to Dickinson State (N.D.) at Scott Gymnasium. Set scores were 25-15, 13-25, 26-24, 21-25, and 15-7.
Prior to the match, P. Groft was two digs shy of becoming the all-time digs leader at DaSU. She made that accomplishment in the first set, surpassing Sonja Kamrud with 2,086 career digs from 1996-99.
Dakota State fell to 11-11 overall record and 2-3 record in North Star matches. Dickinson State improved to 3-15 overall record and 1-4 NSAA record.
The Trojans step aside their North Star conference play Tuesday evening, visiting in-state rival Mount Marty (S.D.) at Cimpl Arena in Yankton. The junior varsity match starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity match at 7 p.m.

- Knotted at 5-5 in the first set, the Blue Hawks went on a 7-1 scoring tear to open a 12-6 lead capped by Madi Wahl's service ace.
- The Blue Hawks' lead grew to 23-12 after Katie Collum's kill. Dakota State could get no closer than nine points at 24-15 as DiSU secured the first set at 25-15 for a 1-0 match lead.
- Dickinson State hit .276 in the opening set (12 kills with four errors in 29 swings) and held Dakota State to .100 hitting efficiency (10 kills with 7 errors in 30 attempts).
- Tied at 6-6 in the second set, the Trojans roared with an 8-0 outburst to earn a 14-6 lead after an attack error by the Blue Hawks.
- DaSU never trailed for the rest of the second set, closing with a 9-3 run. Madalyn Groft smashed a kill (assisted by Maddi Langerock) to secure a 25-13 victory and evened the match at 1-1.
- Trailing 6-5 in the third set, the Trojans went on a 6-0 scoring run to earn an 11-6 lead.
- A service error by the Blue Hawks gave the Trojans a 19-12 lead in the third. Dickinson State went on a monstrous 10-0 scoring spurt to regain their 22-19 lead after a kill by McKenzie Moser.
- Brooklyn Wyllie smashed a kill to give the Blue Hawks its set point opportunity at 24-21 in the third.
- The Trojans saved three set point opportunities as DiSU committed a service error, followed by Brooklyn Grage's kill and a block by Riley Grandpre and Hannah Viet to tie at 24-24.
- Collum and Wahl each recorded a kill to close the third set as Dickinson State won 26-24 to regain a 2-1 match lead.
- DiSU outhit DaSU 17-14 in the third set. The Blue Hawks hit .182 (7 errors in 55 swings) compared to the Trojans .120 hitting percentage (8 errors in 50 attempts).
- Dakota State and Dickinson State went through a see-saw battle in the first 24 rallies of the fourth set. A kill by DiSU Wyllie recorded the seventh tie of the fourth set at 12-12.
- Viet ignited DaSU's 4-0 scoring run with a pair of kills to grab a 16-12 lead.
- Dakota State scored the final three points of the fourth set, capped by a service ace from P. Groft for a 25-21 victory to force the fifth and deciding set.
- The Trojans hit an impressive .342 in the fourth set (16 kills with 3 errors in 38 attempts). The Blue hawks recorded a hitting percentage of .231 (15 kills with 6 errors in 39 swings).
- Dakota State kicked off the fifth set with a 1-0 lead after Sophia Vanden Bosch smashed a kill.
- Dickinson State answered with four straight points to earn a 4-1 lead.
- The Blue Hawks stretched its lead to 9-4 after an attack error by the Trojans.
- Dakota State could get no closer than 9-5 as Dickinson State secured a five-set victory. Wyllie and Collum each smashed a kill to close the match for a 15-7 victory.
- DiSU hit .400 in the deciding set with nine kills and three errors in 15 attempts. DaSU was held to a minus .048 hitting percentage (3 kills with 4 errors in 21 swings).
- M. Groft posted a triple-double for the third straight match. She produced 25 set assists, 12 digs, and 10 kills. P. Groft tallied 16 digs to increase her all-time 2,101 digs at Dakota State. She also had two service aces and two set assists.
- Viet paced the Trojans' offense attack with 14 kills and hit .375. She collected six blocks in the match. Grage added 13 kills and hit .323. Vanessa Schroeder had eight kills.
- VonnaGail Schlechter registered 12 digs for DaSU. Macy Wetsch added nine digs.
- Four Dickinson State players recorded double digits kills, led by Mackenna Johnson with 14 kills and hit .333. She had four blocks. Collum added a double-double of 12 kills and 11 digs. She registered two service aces.
- McKenzie Moser had a double-double of 13 kills and 13 digs for DiSU. Wyllie had 12 kills and four blocks. Bailey Pearcy contributed a double-double of 53 set assists and 12 digs.
- Dickinson State outhit Dakota State 61-54 in the match. The Blue Hawks hit .190 (29 errors in 168 swings) compared to the Trojans .171 hitting percentage (26 errors in 164 attempts).
- DiSU had 10 team blocks, while DaSU had eight team blocks.
