SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Dakota State (S.D.) met No. 15 ranked Northwestern (Iowa) for the second time within a week at the American State Bank Sports Complex Dome Classic Saturday afternoon.  The Red Raiders held the Trojans to no hits, earning a 9-0 five-inning victory to complete the season series sweep.

Dakota State fell to 1-6 overall record.  Northwestern, a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), remained undefeated this season with an overall record to 15-0.

The Trojans close out the dome tournament at 4 p.m. versus another foe from the GPAC, College of Saint Mary (Neb.).

Hannah McFarland led the game with a walk for the Trojans in the top first inning and could not score.

The Red Raiders scored three straight runs with two outs in the bottom half of the first frame, capped by an RBI single from Ravyn Krachey for a 3-0 lead.

Northwestern added a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning, highlighted by Gwen Mikkelsen's lead-off solo home run and an RBI single from Randi Childress for a 5-0 lead.

Gallegos drilled a 2-RBI double to highlight the Red Raiders' four-run production in the bottom third for a 9-0 lead.

NWIA tallied eight hits in the game, led by Mikkelsen with a home run, single, and an RBI.  Kameryn Etherington added a hit and two RBIs.  Childress had a single and an RBI.  Gallegos collected a double and two RBIs.

Jada Brown (L, 0-2) recorded the setback after working for one inning for DSU.  Mason Usselman pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief, while Maycee Bricker tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.  Bricker limited the Red Raiders to two hits and recorded two strikeouts.

Tatum Schmalbeck (W, 1-0) earned a complete game pitching victory for NWIA.  She recorded two strikeouts.
