MADISON, S.D. (Oct. 26, 2025)—The Dakota State University Trojan women's basketball team (25-5 overall record in 2024-25, ranked No. 4 in the 2025-26 NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll) makes their 2025-26 season debut with three games this week.
The Trojans open their season Monday afternoon in the Education Kick-off Classic at Madison High School (800 9
th Street), hosting NCAA Division III Minnesota-Morris. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. and the contest is free admission for everyone. 'White-Out' is the theme to the DSU women's basketball season opener.
Dakota State heads out to Mabee Arena (100 East Claflin Ave.) in Salina, Kan., for a two-day Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Classic against a pair of Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference this weekend.
The Trojans play host team Kansas Wesleyan (24-8 overall record and NAIA Second Round qualifier in 2024-25, preseason pick to finish sixth in the KCAC Conference this season) Friday evening at 6 p.m. DSU faces Bethel (Kan.) (16-13 overall record in 2024-25, preseason pick to finish fifth in the KCAC this year) Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m.
Up Next: Dakota State is scheduled to play a scrimmage with NCAA Division II Northern State (S.D.) on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse. The Trojans return to regular season action on Tuesday, Nov. 11 as they make their annual trip to the Sanford Sports Complex at the Pentagon, taking on the two-time defending champion and No. 1 preseason ranked Dordt (Iowa) at 5:30 p.m. in Sioux Falls, S.D.
2024-25 Season in Review
Dakota State (S.D.) posted their 20-plus victories for the fifth straight year, as well as winning the North Star Athletic Association regular season title for the fifth consecutive year. The Trojans finished with an overall record of 25-5, including their fifth straight trip to the NAIA National Tournament. DSU fell short in the Second Round of the NAIA National Tournament to Governors State (Ill.) at DSU Fieldhouse.
Dakota State finished their era in the NSAA conference with a 14-1 record, compiling an astounding 65-4 conference record (.942 winning percentage) during their five consecutive regular season conference titles. The Trojans also captured their final North Star Athletic Association postseason tournament, defeating Jamestown (N.D.) at DSU Fieldhouse.
David Moe, who is entering his ninth season as DSU women's basketball head coach, collected his sixth straight NSAA Women's Basketball Coach-of-the-Year honor.
Tabor Teel was named to the NAIA Women's Basketball All-America Second Team, NSAA Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Year, First Team All-Conference, and All-Defense Team.
Angela Slattery earned the NSAA All-Conference Second Team distinction.
Lilli Mackley and
Bria Wasmund were also named to NSAA All-Conference Honorable Mention team.
Dakota State prepares for new Frontier Conference look; ranks No. 4 in NAIA preseason poll
Dakota State (S.D.) was the coaches' pick to win in the new-look and expanded Frontier Conference Women's Basketball conference title. The Frontier Conference expanded to 12 full-time institutions this season.
The Trojans collected 11 first place votes and 121 points to capture the top spot in the preseason coaches' poll. DSU also posted the highest ranking in NAIA Division I era at No. 4 in the preseason rankings. It was also the highest ranking in program history since the 2007-08 season where DSU was ranked No. 5.
Carroll (Mont.) and Rocky Mountain (Mont.) earned a tie for second place in the conference preseason poll, with each team recording 101 points. The Battlin' Bears won the Frontier Conference regular season title last season.
Providence (Mont.), who won the conference postseason tournament last season, placed fourth in the poll with 91 points. Montana Tech picked up the final first place vote and earned 81 points to finish fifth.

Bellevue (Neb.) was sixth in the poll with 68 points, followed by Montana State-Northern seventh with 58 points. Valley City State (N.D.) placed eighth with 55 points, Mayville State (N.D.) ninth with 37 points, Dickinson State (N.D.) 10
th with 35 points, Montana Western 11
th with 32 points, and Bismarck State (N.D.) 12
th with 12 points.
Each member will play a total of 22 contests – 11 home games and 11 road games – during the Frontier Conference schedule.
2025-26 Trojan Women's Basketball Schedule overview
A season-high six-game home stand at DSU Fieldhouse highlighted the 2025-26 Dakota State (S.D.) women's basketball schedule. The Trojans make their debut in the Frontier Conference, where each conference member is scheduled to play 22 conference games with 11 games at home and 11 games on the road.
After playing three games this week, Dakota State takes on Dordt (Iowa) in the annual contest at the Sanford Sports Complex (Pentagon) on Nov. 11. The Trojans then open their conference schedule against their traveling partner Bellevue (Neb.) on Nov. 15.
DSU begins their season-high six-game home stand versus Providence (Mont.) on Nov. 21 and MSU-Northern on Nov. 22. The Trojans step aside their conference play on Nov. 22 versus Northwestern (Iowa).
The annual 'Battle of the Blues' with rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) returns to DSU Fieldhouse on Dec. 2, the final non-conference contest of the season for the Trojans.
Dakota State plays their remaining schedule with 20 conference games, continuing their home stand on Dec. 5 and 6 versus Mayville State (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.), respectively.
The Trojans begin their six-game stretch away from the DSU Fieldhouse in the Frontier Conference play, wrapping up the 2025 portion of the season at MSU-Northern on Dec. 12 and Providence on Dec. 13.
Dakota State begins their 2026 year at Carroll (Mont.) on Jan. 2 and Rocky Mountain (Mont.) on Jan. 3. The Trojans conclude their road trip at newcomer NAIA and Frontier Conference member Bismarck State (N.D.) on Jan. 9 and Dickinson State (N.D.) on Jan. 10.
DSU comes back home on Jan. 16 versus Montana Tech and on Jan. 17 versus Montana Western. The Trojans remain home on Jan. 23 versus Bellevue.
Dakota State continues their Frontier Conference play by alternating between weekend contests on the road and at home. The Trojans visit VCSU on Jan. 30 and MSU on Jan. 31 before returning home versus RMC on Feb. 6 and CC on Feb. 7.
DSU travels to Montana Western on Feb. 13 and Montana Tech on Feb. 14. The Trojans close out their regular season schedule at home versus Dickinson State on Feb. 20 and Bismarck State on Feb. 21.
The top eight teams in the Frontier Conference standings will play in the postseason tournament to be held at Butte Civic Center in Butte, Mont. The quarterfinals take place on Feb. 27 or 28, followed by the semifinal contests on March 1 and the championship game on March 2.
