Trojan men’s basketball opens 2025-26 season with dominating victory over Wolfpack

11 DSU players scored and grabbed at least a rebound in Williamson's DSU coaching debut

MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State men's basketball opened its 2025-26 season with a dominant 109-53 victory over Oak Hills Christian on Thursday night at the DSU Fieldhouse, giving head coach Kevin Williamson his first win as the DSU men's basketball head coach.  Eleven different players scored in the game (with six players scoring in double figures), as well as recording at least one rebound.

DSU's 49-point margin of victory is tied for eighth largest margin of victory in Trojan men's basketball school history (at Trinity Bible, N.D. on Jan. 17, 2015).

The Trojans shot a blistering 60 percent from the field and knocked down 15 3-pointers, while holding Oak Hills to 32.7 percent overall. DSU scored 57 first-half points and led by as many as 56 points.

Nathan Ojukwu powered the Trojans with a 26-point, 10-rebound double-double on 10-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-6 from deep. Ryan Beckwith added 14 points on four 3-pointers in his collegiate debut, and Desman Botts went a perfect 5-for-5 from the field for 10 points. Kaleel Sutton-White tallied nine points and seven assists (collegiate debut), while Jonathan Campbell (collegiate debut) and Nolan Segner each chipped in 10 points. DSU's bench combined for 56 points.

Tyrecke Francois led Oak Hills with 19 points, and Lanygel McCracken posted nine points and nine rebounds.

Dakota State outrebounded the Wolfpack 47-25, forced 17 turnovers, and converted them into 30 points. The Trojans also dominated in the paint 52-24 and on second-chance points 23-15.

DSU finished 42-for-70 from the field and 15-for-28 from beyond the arc.

Dakota State heads on the road Saturday evening, visiting NCAA Division III Wisconsin-River Falls.  Tip-off from Don Page Arena in River Falls, Wis., is set for 6 p.m.  Please note that there will be no live video streaming of the game, you can follow the live stats on dsuathletics.com.
