NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. – The Dakota State men's cross-country team ventured to Adam Homestead and Nature Preserve Saturday, tackling the 8K course in the Briar Cliff (Iowa) Open. The meet featured squads from NCAA Division I and Great Plains Athletic Conference schools, with a total of 149 runners completed the 8K race.
Team Standings
NCAA Division I South Dakota won the team title with a low score of 25 points, defeating Creighton (Neb.) with 39 points. NAIA's No. 25 ranked Dordt (Iowa) was third with 106 points, followed by Concordia (Neb.) fourth with 113 points and Northwestern (Iowa) fifth with 130 points. Dakota State finished sixth as a team with 144 points. Morningside (Iowa) was seventh after scoring 220 points, Mount Marty (S.D.) eighth with 240 points, and Southeast (Neb.) CC ninth with 265 points.
Individual Results
- Lane Henrichs posted one of the top performances for the Trojans, setting a career best 8K time of 25 minutes, 59.68 seconds. He finished 13th in the race. Evan Armstrong followed up with a 24th place finish in 26 minutes, 32.79 seconds.
- Marc Corpus was 43rd after clocking a time of 27 minutes, 14.25 seconds for DSU. Benjamin Strunk posted his season best time of 27:22.12 to place 45th.
- Tyler Nicke produced his personal record time of 27 minutes, 23.71 seconds to finish 48th for Dakota State. Blake Schmiedt added a season best time of 27:29.30 for 50th place.
- Solomon Carter registered a personal record time of 27 minutes, 40.81 seconds for DSU. Finley McConniel added a time of 27:48.58, and Jonah Thiele with a time of 28:20.62.
- Holden Jelen earned a career best 8K time of 28:51.80 for the Trojans. Lucas Harr finished the race in 32:39.78 and Hunter Dimick in 36:50.88.

Dakota State returns to Sioux Center, Iowa, for the second time this season next Saturday. The Trojans run in the Holiday Inn Express Classic, hosted by Dordt (Iowa) on their cross-country course. The men's race is scheduled to start at 10:45 a.m.
