Trojans blanked by Bruins in CAC women’s soccer action

BELLEVUE, Neb. – Dakota State (S.D.) women's soccer played their lone Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) contest Saturday afternoon on the road, falling 9–0 to Bellevue (Neb.) at the Renner Dennis Outdoor Athletic Complex.

First-Half Summary
Katrina Avila scored the opening goal off a setup from Prescillia Casu in the 15th minute. The Bruins added five more before halftime, with Baylee Tex striking twice (22' and 39') and Aileen Perez, Izzy Ashby, and Lily Humes each tallying one to make it 6–0 at the break.

Dakota State goalkeeper Sierra Verplancke turned away eight saves in the opening half to stem the early surge. Katie Brown and Hannah Hint each recorded first-half shot attempts for the Trojans.

Second-Half Summary
The Bruins continued their offensive push, netting three more goals in the second half. Avila struck again in the 71st minute, followed by Layla Vazquez scoring off a corner in the 79th, and Humes adding her second goal in the 89th minute off a Vazquez assist.

Verplancke and Chloe Mart split time in net for DSU. Verplancke finished with 12 saves over 53 minutes, while Mart collected five stops in 36 minutes of relief.

Team Stats
Dakota State was outshot 39–4, including 26–2 in shots on goal. Nichole Corona and Olivia Bradley each placed a shot on frame, while Hint and Brown also tallied attempts.

Bellevue improved to 9–1–2 overall and 2–0 in the CAC, while Dakota State moved to 0–12–1 overall and 0–1 in league play.
