FOREST CITY, Iowa – The Dakota State (S.D.) women's soccer team exploded for a season-high four goals Wednesday evening, powering past Waldorf (Iowa) 4-1 in non-conference action at Bolstorff Field.
The Trojans scored twice in the opening five minutes and never looked back, earning their first win of the 2025 season.
First-Half Highlights
Dakota State (1-12-1 overall) wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Just two minutes into the match,
Clarissa Knoll scored her second goal of the season, finishing a play set up by
Charli Zimmerman and
Katie Brown. Only two minutes later, Knoll returned the favor — assisting
Nichole Corona on a strike in the fourth minute to make it 2-0.
The Trojans controlled possession throughout the first half, outshooting the Warriors 12-0 and forcing Waldorf goalkeeper AbbieGail Michael to make five saves. Dakota State generated four corner kicks before halftime and took a 2-0 advantage into the break.
Second-Half Highlights
Dakota State continued to apply pressure after halftime. In the 68
th minute,
Katie Brown kicked goal to extend the lead to 3-0. Waldorf's lone response came in the 82
nd minute when Olivia Cross scored her sixth goal of the season to trim the deficit to 3-1.
The Trojans answered quickly. Just three minutes later,
Madison Smalley converted a penalty kick in the 85
th minute — her second goal of the season — sealing the 4-1 win.

Dakota State dominated the stat sheet, outshooting Waldorf
28-2 overall and
14-2 on goal.
