Dakota State (S.D.) hit century mark for the second time in the last three games

November 15, 2025

BELLEVUE, Neb. – NAIA's nationally-ranked No. 5 Dakota State (S.D.) shot a blistering 65 percent from the field and surpassed the 100-point mark for the second time this season, powering past Bellevue 105–57 in the Frontier Conference opener Saturday afternoon at BU Fieldhouse. The Trojans dominated every phase, piling up 28 assists, 13 made threes, 54 points in the paint, and 42 bench points to improve to 4–1 (1–0 Frontier).

Bellevue dropped to 3–2 (0–1 Frontier).

Dakota State put up quarter totals of 24, 25, 28, and 28, while holding the Bruins to under 30 percent shooting in a wire-to-wire performance.

First Quarter Highlights
Dakota State set the tone immediately with crisp ball movement and defensive pressure. Mackenzi Simmons opened scoring with a three, and Tabor Teel followed with an early jumper to make it 5–0. After Bellevue trimmed it to 8–4, DSU answered with a 7–0 run highlighted by a Caitlin Dyer triple and a transition layup.

DSU forced four first-quarter turnovers, converted them into six points, and closed the frame up 24–13. Teel and Dyer combined for 13 of the Trojans' first 24 points.

Second Quarter Highlights
The Trojans' depth began to take over. Ella Carstensen scored 10 points in the period on 4-of-6 shooting, helping DSU outscore Bellevue 25–12 in the frame.

Dyer added five in the quarter, while the DSU defense held the Bruins to 5-of-17 shooting and forced five more turnovers. Dakota State entered halftime with a comfortable 24-point cushion, 49–25.

Third Quarter Highlights
Dakota State erupted for 28 points on 11-for-17 shooting, continuing one of its most efficient offensive outings of the season. Teel scored four more inside, Simmons added four, and Dyer tallied eight in the period.

The Trojans' defense was equally dominant, holding the Bruins to 6-of-19 in the quarter. DSU headed to the fourth leading 77–42 after its highest-scoring quarter to that point.

Fourth Quarter Highlights
The bench closed strong, pouring in 28 more points. Lillie Ross knocked down a pair of threes, Madala Hanson added five, and Angelina Chapple sealed the afternoon with dominant rim protection, recording three fourth-quarter blocks (five total).

Dakota State hit triple digits with 2:08 remaining and ultimately stretched the lead to 48 points, its largest of the day.
