MADISON, S.D. (Nov. 25, 2025)—The Dakota State University Trojan women's basketball team (6-1 overall record, ranked No. 5 in the 2025-26 NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll) closes out their non-conference schedule with a pair of games against members of the Great Plains Athletic Conference.    

The Trojans continue their season-high six-game home stand at DSU Fieldhouse, hosting Northwestern (Iowa) (4-2 overall record) Tuesday evening.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. 

Dakota State closes out their non-conference schedule after their Thanksgiving break next Tuesday (Dec. 2) as they host rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) (4-2 overall record, No. 16 in the NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 national poll).  The Battle of the Blues women's contest is set for 5 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse.

Up Next: Dakota State resumes their busy Frontier Conference schedule on the first weekend of December.  The Trojans host Mayville State (N.D.) on Friday, Dec. 5, and Valley City State (N.D.) on Saturday, Dec. 6 to conclude their six-game home stand.  Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. on both days.

Dakota State opens new conference era Frontier Conference undefeated
No. 5 ranked Dakota State (S.D.) kicked off their new conference era in the Frontier Conference, kicking off their 22-game conference schedule with a 105-57 rout at their traveling partner Bellevue (Neb.).  The Trojans scored at least 24 points in each quarter to roll to the first ever Frontier Conference victory on Nov. 15 in Bellevue, Neb. 

Four players scored in double digits, led by Caitlin Dyer with 23 points and Tabor Teel with 21 points.  Teel posted a double-double with 10 rebounds.  She also dished out six assists.  Ella Carstensen added 12 points, Mackenzi Simmons 11 points, and Angelina Chapple with 10 points.  Brooke Gunderson grabbed seven rebounds.

Dakota State played their first home game at DSU Fieldhouse on Nov. 21, rolling past last year's Frontier Conference postseason tournament's champion Providence (Mont.).  The Trojans outscored Argos in each quarter, cruising to a 98-61 victory.  Teel produced a double-double of 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Simmons added 16 points, thanks to her perfect 4-for-4 from the 3-point line.  Dyer and Bria Wasmund each added 10 points.

DSU pulled away past Montana State-Northern on Nov. 22, using a 25-12 fourth quarter outburst for a 79-61 victory.  Cierra Watkins scored 18 points and posted a double-double with 10 points.  She also contributed six assists in the game.  Carstensen had 14 points and nine rebounds.  Simmons scored 12 points.  Teel and Wasmund each scored nine points.

Teel earns second Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player-of-the-Week award
Tabor Teel, a senior forward for Dakota State (S.D.), was tabbed by the Frontier Conference as the Women's Basketball Defensive Player-of-the-Week, presented by Erck Hotels on Nov. 18.  It was the second time this season that she had received the weekly honors from the Frontier Conference (swept both offensive and defensive weekly honors earlier this season).

She averaged 9.0 defensive rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game as the Trojans went 1-1 record for the week on Nov. 10-16.  She recorded five defensive rebounds, three steals, and a block in 86-82 setback to No. 1 ranked team Dordt (Iowa) at the Sanford Sports Complex at the Pentagon on Nov. 11.

Teell added 10 defensive rebounds, three steals, and two blocks during DSU's 105-57 victory at Bellevue (Neb.) in the Frontier Conference season opener on Nov. 15.
She is second in the Frontier Conference with 10.3 rebounds per game, third in field goal percentage (59.8 percent), and fourth in points per game (16.7 points per game).

According to the NAIA-PrestoStats as of Tuesday, Dakota State leads the Frontier Conference in scoring with an average of 88.7 points per game.  The Trojans are second in the league in field goal percentage of 47.9 percent (237-of-495 field goals).

DSU leads the Frontier Conference in 3-point field goals made with 68 3-point field goals and assists per game with 18.3 assists average per game.  Dakota State ranks second in the conference with 44.1 rebounds per game.

Dakota State is one of the two undefeated teams remaining in the Frontier Conference after last weekend's conference contests.  The Trojans are 3-0 record in the league, followed by Montana Western with 2-0 record after earning road wins at Valley City State (N.D.) and Mayville State 9N.D.) last weekend.

Rocky Mountain (Mont.), Valley City State (N.D.), MSU-Northern, and Carroll (Mont.) are 2-1 record in the league.  Montana Tech and Bismarck State (N.D.) are 1-1 record each, followed by Providence (Mont.) with 1-2 record.  Dickinson State (N.D.) dropped their first two league contests, while Bellevue (Neb.) and Mayville State (N.D.) are winless in three conference games.
