MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota State University Trojan men's indoor track & field team added another event to their national qualifying list Saturday at the Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) Snow Tiger Invitational. The indoor track & field meet was held at DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Center.
Dakota State cruised to the team title after scoring 87 points, defeating host-team Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) with 34 points. The Trojans won nine event titles in the meet, highlighted with the 4 x 800-meter relay team with the NAIA 'B' provisional qualifying time.

Franklin Johns,
Evan Armstrong,
Solomon Carter, and
Mohamed Muse clocked a time of 7 minutes, 53.86 seconds to win the 4 x 800-meter relay title. The members of
Tyler Nicke,
Lane Henrichs,
Dawson Miller, and
Logan Recoy finished second in the same race in 8:16.85.
Finley McConniel,
Marc Corpus,
Holden Jelen, and
Benjamin Strunk teamed up with third place finish in 8:40.04.
Lukas Bennett captured the fastest time in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 6.94 seconds for the Trojans.
Jagger Lombard was second in 6.97 seconds, followed by
Talon George seventh in 7.18 seconds,
James Burke eighth in 7.19 seconds,
Weston Frangenberg ninth in 7.25 seconds, and
Connor Schmidt in 7.58 seconds.
Lombard won the 60-meter dash title with a time of 6.98 seconds.
Braden Peterson, running unattached for DSU, was second in 7.08 seconds. Burke improved his time of 7.18 second to place third. George was fifth with a time of 7.21 seconds.
Frangenberg was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.62 seconds for Dakota State.
Muse won the 400-meter dahs title with a time of 50.87 seconds. Bennett added a time of 51.07 seconds to place third.
Nicke registered a time of 1 minute, 24.88 seconds to win the 600-meter run for DSU.
Logan Recoy added a fourth-place finish in 1:26.13.
Hunter Dimick clocked a time of 2:39.41 in the 800-meter run.
The Trojans placed three runners in the top three places, led by Carter winning the title in 2:35.76. Armstrong added a time of 2:35.84 to finish second, followed by Jelen third with a personal record time of 2:43.27.
DSU also dominated the 1-mile run, led by Henrichs with the title winning time of 4:32.64. Corpus was second in 4:39.26, followed by McConniel third in 4:43.07. Strunk placed fourth in 4:43.42, while
David Brock produced a personal record time of 4:57.23.
Tysen Grinde won the 60-meter hurdles title with his career best time of 8.84 seconds for Dakota State.
Miles Eide was second in 9.14 seconds, while
Bergen Irey recorded his personal best 9.66 seconds to finish fourth.
Grinde was third in the pole vault after clearing the height of 4.05 meters (13 feet, 3.5 inches) to place third.
Rasmus Loken was fourth after clearing 3.75 meters (12 feet, 3.5 inches), while Eide finished sixth with 3.45 meters clearance (11 feet, 3.75 inches). Irey registered 3.30 meters pole vault clearance (10 feet, 10 inches).
Brock Krueger leaped his personal best mark of 13.59 meters (44 feet, 7 inches) to win the triple jump for the Trojans. He added a second-place finish in the high jump after clearing 1.85 meters (6 feet, .75 inches).
Dawson Miller cleared the height of 1.80 meters (5 feet 10.75 inches) to place third. Irey also added a personal best of 1.80 meters, while Toby Princewell cleared the height of 1.75 meters (5 feet, 8.75 inches).
Oliver Tordsen improved his personal best weight throw mark of 17.26 meters (56 feet, 7.5 inches) to finish second. His toss is the sixth best in the school record.
Zachary Haugen hit his career best 16.78 meters (55 feet, .75 inches) to finish fourth, the eighth best mark in DSU men's indoor track & field school history.
Tarin Bingham posted a personal record of 15.53 meters (50 feet, 11.5 inches) to finish fifth in the weight throw.
Luke Borowicz followed up with 15.31 meters toss (50 feet, 2.75 inches),
Lukus Mentele 14.62 meters (47 feet, 11.75 inches), and
Dylan Johansen 14.07 meters (46 feet, 2 inches).
Mentele led the Trojans with a third-place finish in the shot put, tossing 15.13 meters (49 feet, 7.75 inches). Tordsen improved his personal best 15.11 meters (49 feet, 7 inches) to place fourth. Johansen threw 14.63 meters (48 feet), followed by Grinde with a personal record 11.83 meters (38 feet, 9.75 inches). Irey added a personal best 9.29 meters (30 feet, 5.75 inches).
The Trojans closed the day with a second-place finish in the 4 x 400-meter relay. Lombard, Frangenberg, Burke, and Schmidt finished with a time of 3:41.93 as a team.
Dakota State heads to their Christmas break and returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, in the Mount Marty (S.D.) Opener. The Trojans will have four long-distance runners –
Reese Henrie,
Caleb Sayler,
Jonah Thiele, and
Joshua Tucker – in the BMW Dallas Marathon on Sunday morning at 8 a.m. in Dallas, Texas.
