Minear adds 60-meter hurdles All-America; Trojans place 15th at U.S. Marines NAIA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship

Four athletes were in action on the final day of 2025 U.S. Marines NAIA Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dakota State (S.D.) wrapped up the third day of the 2025 U.S. Marines NAIA Men's Indoor Track & Field National Championship Saturday at Alachua County Sports and Events Center at Celebration Pointe.  The Trojans added another NAIA All-America status, while three other athletes competed.

Chantz Minear collected his second NAIA All-America in the same national meet, finishing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles national final with a time of 8.03 seconds.  He collected his fourth NAIA Indoor Track & Field All-America awards, his second straight year that he received NAIA All-America in both indoor heptathlon and 60-meter hurdles.

Nolan Slominski ran in the 800-meter run national final.  He finished ninth with a time of 1 minute, 53.49 seconds for the Trojans.

Two DSU throwers competed in the shot put in the afternoon session.  Lukus Mentele fouled on the first attempt and tossed 15.06 meters (49 feet, 5 inches) on his second attempt.  He finished 22nd overall with a toss of 15.31 meters (50 feet, 2.75 inches) in his first NAIA indoor national meet appearance at Dakota State.

James McClain was making his second straight NAIA indoor shot-put national meet for DSU.  He threw 12.41 meters (40 feet, 8.75 inches) on his first attempt and recorded 14.85 meters (48 feet, 8.75 inches) on his second throw to place 26th.  He fouled on his final attempt.

DSU finished 15th overall in the NAIA Indoor Track & Field men's team standings with 15 points, concluding their indoor track & field season.  The Trojans were the top North Star Athletic Association team finisher at the national meet.

Dakota State opens their outdoor track & field season one month later March 28-29 as they compete in the two-day Wildcat Classic, hosted by NCAA Division II Wayne State (Neb.).
