DICKINSON, N.D. – Three Dakota State (S.D.) athletes received awards during the North Star Athletic Association Softball awards night Thursday evening at Buck Auditorim in Kleinfelter Hall on the campus of Dickinson State (N.D.). The NSAA softball All-Conference and postseason awards were announced after the first round of the conference postseason tournament, which kicked off earlier Thursday at Sanford Sports Complex on Bravera Field.
The NSAA Softball All-Conference teams, postseason awards, and Gold Glove teams were voted by the league's head coaches. The Champions of Character recipients were also announced.
Hannah McFarland, a junior outfielder from Lawtey, Fla., was named to NSAA Softball All-Conference First Team. It was her third straight year that she collected All-Conference honors, her second consecutive year that she was named to First Team All-Conference.
McFarland leads the team with 23 stolen bases for the Trojans, which is the second most stolen bases in the North Star Athletic Association. She holds the all-time DSU school record of 64 stolen bases since the 2022-23 season.Â
She also leads the team in batting average of .346, going 44-for-127 at the plate for Dakota State. She posts an on-base percentage of .444.
Defensively, McFarland was named to the Gold Glove Team outfielder position for the second straight year for her outstanding defensive skills. She records a fielding percentage of .989 with 88 total chances, 74 put-outs and 13 assists. She only committed one defensive error.
Michelle Evdos, a senior catcher/utility from Parker, Colo., was selected to NSAA Softball All-Conference Second Team at-large position. She earned the NSAA All-Conference accolades for four consecutive seasons, with her first three seasons as First Team All-Conference selection.
It was the first time since Brittany Hill (2012-15) to be named All-Conference teams for four consecutive years.
Evdos records a batting average of .304 this season (35-for-115 at the plate) and a slugging percentage of .504. She leads the team with 24 runs batted in (RBIs) for the Trojans. Evdos is listed in numerous DSU softball school record.
Hannah Feser, a senior third baseman from Cut Knife, Sask., Canada, was DSU's recipient to the North Star Softball's Champions of Character award.
