MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State University women's soccer officially began its program with a historic debut on Monday night on Dan Beacom Track & Field soccer field at Beacom PREMIER Complex. Despite the excitement of the inaugural match, the Trojans (0-1-0 overall record) fell 6–0 to Mount Marty (1-1-0 overall record).
First Half Highlights
Mount Marty came out strong, controlling possession and applying pressure. The Lancers struck first in the 21st minute when Alyssa Rios found the back of the net. Just under 10 minutes later, Mika Moriera doubled the lead off an assist from Olivia Hackett.
In the 40th minute, Mount Marty extended its advantage to 3–0 as Rhyli Grim scored her first of three goals on the night, assisted by Moriera. Dakota State nearly answered earlier in the half when
Ryelynn Hammer's shot rattled the crossbar, but the Trojans couldn't convert their chances.
DSU trailed 3–0 at halftime.
Second Half Highlights
The Lancers kept their attack rolling after the break. Grim struck again in the 58th minute to make it 4–0. Goals from Alexia Valdez (66') and Grim (69') sealed the 6–0 result.
Dakota State continued to push forward, registering six second-half shots, but Mount Marty goalkeeper Brooklyn McNac finished with a five-save shutout.
