SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Dakota State (S.D.) struck first but couldn't withstand Briar Cliff's (Iowa) four unanswered goals, falling 4–1 in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Faber Field.
Freshman forward
Clarissa Knoll opened the scoring in the 24
th minute, finishing a feed from
Kirsten Piskorski to give the Trojans (0-6-1 overall record) a 1-0 lead.
The advantage was short-lived, as the Chargers (2-3-0 overall record) responded with two goals in a two-minute span late in the first half—Sadie Jones tied the match in the 40
th minute off a setup from Sierra Brooks, and Tamzin Hilton netted the go-ahead tally in the 41
st with help from Ondine Manceau.
Briar Cliff carried that momentum after the break. Brooks struck twice more, scoring in the 47
th minute from Manceau and again in the 59
th minute with an assist from Farrah Thompson, sealing the 4–1 decision.
