(RV) Cougars shut down Trojans in women’s soccer

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Dakota State's women's soccer team fell on the road later Thursday afternoon, dropping an 8–0 non-conference decision to (RV) Columbia (Mo.) of America Midwest Conference at R. Marvin Owens Field.

First Half Summary
Columbia exploded for six first-half goals, starting with Delaynie Brown's opener in the 10th minute off a Georgia Pardalos assist. Brooke Williams followed with a strike in the 18th minute before Pardalos netted back-to-back goals at 20:00 and 27:17.

Madeleine Shylanski and Madison Lieberoff capped the half with goals at 30:19 and 42:18, giving the Cougars a commanding 6–0 halftime lead.

Second Half Summary
The Cougars added two more tallies after the break. Hannah Shylanski scored twice in the 74th and 81st minutes, assisted by Madeleine Shylanski and Delaynie Brown, respectively, to seal the 8–0 result.

DSU Highlights
  • Goalkeeping Effort: Sierra Verplancke made seven first half saves before giving way to Chloe Mart, who recorded eight stops in the second half. Together they combined 15 saves against 23 shots on goal
  • Shots: Dakota State managed four total shots, including one that struck the crossbar from Onika Kline in the 61st minute.
Team Totals
Columbia outshot DSU 29-4 and held a 10-1 edge in corner kicks. The Trojans drop to 0-10-1 on the season, while Columbia improves to 3-4-1.  The Cougars received votes recognition (RV) in the NAIA Women's Soccer Top 25 national poll.

Dakota State stays in Columbia as they seek for their first win of the season, visiting another AMC conference foe Stephens (Mo.).  The kick-off is set for 12 noon at Battle High School.
