Tabor Teel of Dakota State (S.D.) was selected as the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Offensive Player-of-the-Week, the conference office announced their weekly basketball honors Monday.
She continued to be an offensive force as No. 4 ranked Dakota State (S.D.) earned a weekend sweep in North Dakota, concluding their season-high six-game Frontier Conference road trip. She scored 23 points on 10-of-18 field goals, including 2-of-3 from the 3-point arc in Trojans' 93-82 victory at Bismarck State (N.D.) on Jan. 9. She also contributed three assists in the game.
Teel followed up with 19 points, 5 assists, and 5 offensive rebounds in DSU's 90-50 win at Dickinson State (N.D.) on Jan. 10.
She had posted double-doubles in both games (12 rebounds each game), producing her 10
th and 11
th double doubles of the season.
For the week, Teel averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 offensive rebounds per game for the Trojans. She shot 18-of-36 from the field (50 percent), including 5-of-11 from the 3-point line. She currently leads the Frontier Conference with 72 total assists, 16 more assists than the second most assists holder in the league.
Earlier this month, Teel became the 25
th player to surpass 1,000-point career milestone at Dakota State. She currently scored 1,060 career points after last weekend's contests, currently 21
st on the scoring list in DSU's women's basketball program history. She surpassed Jennie Sonne (1,055 points – 1999-2003), Sara Nelson (1,029 points – 2003-07), Kennedy Wagner (1,025 points – 2014-18), and Suzanne Allard (1,025 points – 1976-80) on the scoring list.
Teel is also seventh in the all-time list in rebounds, racking up 698 career rebounds after last weekend for Dakota State.
According to the NAIA-PrestoStats as of Monday, Teel ranks second in the conference with 10.8 rebounds per game, fourth in scoring with 15.9 points per game, and tied for third most blocked shots with 27 blocks.
Tabor, a native of Colton, S.D., is a senior business major at Dakota State University.
Dakota State returns home this weekend at DSU Fieldhouse for the first time since Dec. 6. The Trojans host nationally ranked Montana Tech Friday evening in the battle for Frontier Conference's supremacy. The seventh annual Ag Ball contest is set with a meal starting at 4 p.m., followed by the women's game at 5 p.m. The men's game will follow at 7 p.m.
DSU continues their Frontier Conference three-game home stand Saturday evening at 5 p.m. versus Montana Western.
