SEWARD, Neb. / MANKATO, Minn. – Seven Dakota State (S.D.) men's indoor track & field athletes competed Friday at two different sites on Friday. Three heptathlon athletes competed on the first day of the Concordia (Neb.) Track & Field Classic at Walz Fieldhouse, while four runners competed at the NCAA Division II Mark Schuck Open & Multi's at Myers Fieldhouse hosted by Minnesota State-Mankato.
The heptathlon competed in four different events on the first day.
Talon George kicked off the first event in the 60-meter dash with the top runner with a time of 7.20 seconds for 813 points.
Miles Eide added 653 points after clocking a time of 7.69 seconds, followed by
Bergen Irey with 601 points after recording a time of 7.86 seconds.
The second heptathlon event was the long jump. George leaped 6.05 meters (19 feet, 10.25 inches) for 597 points, Eide with 5.99 meters leap (19 feet, 8 inches) for 584 points, and Irey with 5.68 meters mark (18 feet, 7.75 inches) for 519 points.
George was the top thrower in the shot put, tossing 12.94 meters (42 feet, 5.5 inches) for 664 points. Eide added 9.90 meters toss (32 feet, 5.75 inches) for 480 points, and Irey with 9.41 meters mark (30 feet, 10.5 inches) for 450 points.
The heptathlon closed the day in the high jump with Irey clearing the mark of 1.80 meters (5 feet, 10.75 inches) for 627 points. Eide added 552 points after clearing the height of 1.71 meters (5 feet, 7.25 inches). George registered 457 points after clearing the height of 1.59 meters (5 feet, 2.5 inches).
George is third in the heptathlon standings after the first day for the Trojans. Eide is seventh with 2,269 points, followed by Irey eighth with 2,197 points. The heptathlon continues Saturday with three more events, starting with the 60-meter hurdles, followed by the pole vault, and the 1000-meter run.

Lukas Bennett,
Mohamed Muse, and
Finley McConniel teamed up for the distance medley relay in Mankato. They finished with a time of 10 minutes, 41.71 seconds to place fifth in the race.
Dakota State continues their action Saturday on the second day of the Concordia Track & Field Classic in Seward.
