SEWARD, Neb. / MANKATO, Minn. – The Dakota State University (S.D.) Trojan men's indoor track & field team produced personal records Saturday on the second day of the Concordia (Neb.) Track & Field Classic at Walz Fieldhouse. Four Trojan runners also competed on the second day of the Mark Schuch Open at Myers Fieldhouse, hosted by NCAA Division II Minnesota State-Mankato.
Three heptathlon athletes produced personal records total points after competing three events Saturday in Seward.
Miles Eide hit a time of 9.28 seconds for 685 points in the 60-meter hurdles, followed by
Talon George with 635 points with a time of 9.52 seconds.
Bergen Irey recorded a time of 9.99 seconds for 543 points.
Irey led the Trojans with 3.55 meters (11 feet, 7.75 inches) clearance in the pole vault, collecting 496 points. Eide registered 3.45 meters (11 feet, 3.75 inches) for 469 points and George with 2.45 meters mark (8 feet, .5 inches) for 231 points).
Irey clocked a time of 3 minutes, 5.37 seconds in the 1000-meter run for 613 points. Eide added a time of 3:17.33 for 504 points and George in 3:28.24 for 410 points.
Eide finished fifth overall in the heptathlon standings with 3,927 points, which is 10
th best in the DSU men's indoor track & field school history. Irey added sixth place finish with 3,849 points, followed by George with an eighth-place finish with 3,807 points.
A pair of DSU weight throwers hit NAIA 'B' provisional qualifying marks, led by
Zachary Haugen with 17.58 meters mark (57 feet, 8.25 inches). He finished fifth in the event.
Oliver Tordsen followed up with a sixth-place finish after tossing 17.55 meters (57 feet, 7 inches).
Tarin Bingham threw a career best 16.37 meters (53 feet, 8.5 inches) to finish as a runner up in the unseeded weight throw event. His mark is the 10
th best in school history. Luke Borowciz added 15.68 meters (51 feet, 5.5 inches), while Dylan Joahasen threw a personal record 15.40 meters (50 feet, 6.25 inches).
Tordsen posted the NAIA 'B' provisional qualifying shot-put mark with his personal best toss of 16 meters (52 feet, 6 inches), finishing third. His shot-put mark is the fourth best in Trojan men's indoor track & field school history. Luke Mentele finished sixth after throwing 15.59 meters (51 feet, 1.75 inches), followed by Johansen seventh with 15.25 meters throw (50 feet, .5 inches).
Keegan Hensley threw 13.12 meters (43 feet, .5 inches) in the unseeded shot-put event for Dakota State.
Tysen Grinde recorded a time of 8.90 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles prelims. He also leaped 6.53 meters (21 feet, 5.25 inches to place seventh in the long jump.
Trevor Heinz added 6.11 meters mark (20 feet, .5 inches).
Tanner Drietz recorded a triple jump mark of 12.23 meters (40 feet, 1.5 inches).
Dawson Miller placed sixth in the high jump after clearing 1.84 meters (6 feet, .5 inches).
Jagger Lombard led the Trojans with a time of 7.01 seconds to place third in the 60-meter dash prelims. He also finished third in the finals after clocking a time of 7.03 seconds (7.023 seconds). Lombard also clocked a time of 23.16 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
David Brock registered a time of 4:57.60 in the 1-mile run.
Aaron Van Hemert recorded a time of 52.48 seconds in the 400-meter dash, followed by
Weston Frangenberg in 53.62 seconds, Heinz in 54.49 seconds, and
Ben Witt in 55.09 seconds.
Benjamin Strunk led the Trojans in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9 minutes, 20.67 seconds.
Joshua Tucker finished the race in 9:24.50, followed by
Jonah Thiele in 9:39.29.
Four runners competed in Mankato, highlighted by
Logan Recoy with a personal record 1:24.69 in the 600-meter run.
Finley McConniel added a time of 4:40.17 in the 1-mile run.
Mohamed Muse finished with a time of 2:05.09 in the 800-meter run, while
Lukas Bennett placed ninth with a time of 22.54 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Dakota State will compete in two different indoor track & field meets next Saturday. The Trojans head to Mitchell, S.D., for the Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) Alumni meet and NCAA Division I Nebraska-Lincoln for the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational.
