DSU prepares for final regular season indoor track & field meets this weekend

Dakota State (S.D.) to compete in Mount Marty (S.D.) Last Chance and SDSU Indoor Classic before postseason

MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State University women's and men's indoor track & field teams prepare for their final regular season meets this weekend.  The Trojans are set to compete in two different meets – the two-day South Dakota State Indoor Classic at Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings and the Mount Marty (S.D.) Last Chance Meet.

The Trojans have two weekend meets remaining for their opportunities to make national qualifying marks for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships on March 5 through March 7 in Gainesville, Fla.

South Dakota State Indoor Classic – Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14
  • The two-day NCAA Division I South Dakota State Indoor Classic takes place Friday and Saturday.
  • Friday's events start at 3 p.m. with the 200-meter dash and pole vault.
  • The long-distance events, including the 800-meter run, 3000-meter run, 5000-meter run, and the 4 x 800-meter relay events take place on Friday.
  • The full day of events are scheduled for Saturday, starting at 10:30 a.m. with the 1-mile run.
  • Saturday's field events kick off at 12 p.m. with the weight throw, shot put, long jump, and high jump.
  • Dakota State competed at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex for the second time this season.
  • The Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex also serves the upcoming 2026 Frontier Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships next Saturday (Feb. 21) and next Sunday (Feb. 22).
Mount Marty (S.D.) Last Chance Meet – Friday, Feb. 13
  • Dakota State returns to Ruth Donohoe Fieldhouse for the third time this season in Yankton, S.D.
  • Friday's meet would give athletes opportunities to produce national qualifying marks before the conference meet next week.
  • The first field events are set for 12 p.m. with weight throw and long jump.
  • The first running events are set for 1 p.m. with the 5000-meter run.
  • The final event of the day is set for 6:10 p.m. with the distance medley relay.
Trojans add Maxwell to NAIA national qualifying list; three DSU athletes make mark in school's Top 5
  • At the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, Dakota State added another national qualifier.
  • Bella Maxwell hit NAIA B' provisional shot-put mark of 13.74 meters (45 feet, 1 inch).Her mark is No. 3 best in school history and currently in the NAIA's Top 10 shot put marks.
  • Anna Schneider clocked a personal record time of 2 minutes, 19.02 seconds in the 800-meter run.Her time is the third fastest in DSU women's indoor track & field history.
  • Valerija Curikova led DSU's 3000-meter run with a career best time of 10 minutes, 12.15 seconds, the second fastest in school history.
Looking ahead to inaugural Frontier Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships
  • The Frontier Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled for Feb. 21-22 at Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, S.D.The field and long-distance running events are set on the first day, while full day of events are set on the second day.Dakota State will be the host to their inaugural Frontier Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
  • The two-day conference meet kicks off on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 5 p.m. with the men's long jump, women's weight throw, and women's pole vault.  The women's long jump and the men's weight throw will follow at 7 p.m.
  • The running events on Saturday start at 5 p.m. with the 5000-meter run, followed by 60-meter hurdles prelims, 60-meter dash prelims, 4 x 800-meter relay, and the 400-meter dash.
  • The Frontier Conference meet continues Sunday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. with the men's triple jump, women's high jump, men's pole vault, and women's shot put. The field events conclude at 1 p.m. with the women's triple jump, men's high jump, and men's shot put.
  • The running events will begin at 12 p.m. with the 1-mile run and wrap up at 3 p.m. with the 4 x 400-meter relay.
  • There will be an awards ceremony after the conclusion of the conference meet.
  • The three-day NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Gainesville, Fla., for the second straight year.The dates are set for March 5-7.
