LINCOLN, Neb., and MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) competed in two different men's indoor track & field meets Saturday. Thirteen athletes competed on the second day of the NCAA Division I meet, the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational at Bob Devaney Center. The other athletes also competed at the Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) Alumni Meet at DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Center.
At the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational with numerous athletes from NCAA Division I to NAIA schools,
Lukas Bennett led the Trojans with a time of 22.61 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Jagger Lombard added a time of 22.76 seconds.
Tysen Grinde cleared the height of 1.96 meters (6 feet, 5 inches) to place 11
th in the high jump.
Brock Krueger added a 12
th place finish in the triple jump after leaping 13.07 meters (42 feet, 10.75 inches).
Four Trojans runners hit under 2-minutes mark in the 800-meter run, led by
Tyler Nicke with a personal record time of 1 minute, 56.83 seconds.
Logan Recoy finished the race in 1:58.08, followed by
Mohamed Muse in 1:58.18 and
Franklin Johns in 1:58.63.
Lane Henrichs clocked a time of 9 minutes, 20.65 seconds in the 3000-meter run for DSU.
Lukus Mentele threw 15.61 meters (51 feet, 2.75 inches) in the shot put.
Dylan Johansen added 15.07 meters (49 feet, 5.5 inches), followed by
Oliver Tordsen with 14.96 meters (49 feet, 1 inch), and
Trenton Moran with 14.39 meters mark (47 feet, 2.5 inches).
Dakota State highlighted with an event title and a pair of runner-up finishers at the DWU Alumni Meet.
Trevor Heinz captured the long jump title with 6.48 meters leap (21 feet, 3.25 inches).
Tanner Drietz finished fourth with 6.17 meters mark (20 feet, 3 inches).
Bergen Irey cleared the pole vault mark of 3.40 meters (11 feet, 1.75 inches) for the Trojans.
Rasmus Loken cleared the height of 3.10 meters (10 feet, 2 inches).
Dawson Miller placed fourth in the high jump after clearing the height of 1.78 meters (5 feet, 10 inches). Irey also cleared the same mark and finished fifth.
Keegan Hensley earned a fifth-place finish in the shot put after tossing 12.79 meters (41 feet, 11.5 inches). Irey threw 8.81 meters (28 feet, 11 inches).
Tarin Bingham collected a runner up finish in the weight throw with 16.34 meters mark (53 feet, 7.5 inches).
Luke Borowicz added a fourth-place finish with 15.92 meters toss (52 feet, 2.75 inches). Hensley threw 12.99 meters (42 feet, 7.5 inches).
Dawson Miller posted a season best time of 2:03.56 to finish second in the 800-meter run for Dakota State.
David Brock added a time of 2 minutes, 9.57 seconds.
Ben Witt clocked a season best time of 54.29 seconds to place third in the 400-meter dash. He also placed third in the 200-meter dash in 24.47 seconds.
Holden Jelen registered a personal record time of 4:38.47 to finish fifth in the 1-mile run for DSU.
Jonah Thiele earned a season best time of 4:50.46.
Blake Schmiedt finished with a time of 4:53.06,
Reese Henrie in 5:01.07, and
Hunter Dimick in 6:13.20.
Dakota State concludes their regular season schedule next weekend in two different meets. The Trojans will compete in the two-day NCAA Division I meet, the South Dakota State Indoor Classic Friday and next Saturday in Brookings. DSU will also compete in the Mount Marty (S.D.) Last Chance Friday in Yankton.
