MADISON, S.D. – The 2025-26 Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Champions of Character, presented by WinWon Technologies, were announced Tuesday.  The eight qualifying teams, including Dakota State (S.D.), at the conference postseason tournament were honored prior to their quarterfinals contest on Feb. 27-28 at Butte Civic Center in Butte, Mont.

The head coach from each Frontier Conference member selects the recipient that fits to the NAIA's Champions of Character initiative program's five cores that include integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

The mission of the NAIA's Champions of Character program is to provide training to instill the values that build character so that students, coaches, and parents know, do, and value the right thing on and off the field.

The Champions of Character helps participants find balance by keeping the five core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership – at the heart of the athletics experience.  In the NAIA, we strive to be The Right Way to Play!

Senior guard Brooke Gunderson was the DSU's recipient to the Frontier Conference Champions of Character.

"Brooke is an amazing student, teammate, and athlete," said head coach David Moe.  "She embodies our program and culture, worked herself into a key member of our rotation."

Brooke, a native of Buffalo, Minn., is an English education major at Dakota State University.

Dakota State (26-5 overall record, No. 7 ranking in the final NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 poll) prepare to host the NAIA National Tournament First and Second Round this weekend at DSU Fieldhouse.  The Trojans, who advanced to the national tournament for the sixth straight year and won the inaugural Frontier Conference regular season title, will face Grand View (Iowa) of the Heart of America Athletic Conference in the First Round Friday evening at 5:30 p.m.

Bethel (Kan.) and Concordia (Neb.) are the other two teams facing the First Round at DSU Fieldhouse Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.  Friday's winners will play each other on Saturday in the Second Round at 6 p.m.
