Four DSU individuals collect Frontier Conference Women’s Basketball postseason awards

Teel named conference Player-of-the-Year; Moe earned seventh straight Coach of the Year honor

MADISON, S.D. – The Frontier Conference announced their women's basketball All-Conference teams and postseason awards prior to the conference postseason tournament on Feb. 26.  Four Dakota State individuals received honors from the league, their first year in the Frontier Conference.

The awards recipients are selected by the twelve (12) head coaches in the conference, who are not permitted to vote for their own teams.

Head coach David Moe was voted as the Coach-of-the-Year after guiding the Trojans to an impressive 19-3 conference, earning the outright conference regular season title and clinching the first league's automatic bid to the national tournament.  It is his seventh consecutive season that he was named as the conference's Coach-of-the-Year (previous six seasons were with the North Star Athletic Association).

Moe guided Dakota State to 25-plus victories for six straight seasons.  He also led the Trojans to the NAIA National Tournament for six straight seasons, including this year.  DSU will be hosting their third straight NAIA First and Second Round at DSU Fieldhouse this weekend.

Tabor Teel, a senior forward, was selected as the Frontier Conference Player-of-the-Year, All-Conference First Team, and All-Defense Team for Dakota State.  It was her second straight year that she was voted as the league's Player-of-the-Year (NSAA conference last season). 

Prior to the national tournament this weekend, Teel posted double-doubles 18 times this season.  She holds the single season school record in rebounds with 324 rebounds (10.7 rebounds per game, which ranks second in the conference).

Teel leads the team with 17.1 points per game (529 total points, which is third best scoring average in the Frontier Conference.  She also leads the league with 120 assists (3.9 assists per game) and ranks second with 48 blocked shots.  She shoots 205-of-406 from the field (50.5 percent).

During 22 Frontier Conference contests, Teel averaged 17.5 points and 10.7 rebounds per game for DSU. 

Caitlin Dyer, a redshirt junior guard, was also selected to the Frontier Conference First Team and All-Defense Team for the Trojans.  Prior to this weekend's contests, she averaged 10.8 points and1.8 assists per game.

Defensively, Dyer stole the ball 59 times this season and averaged 1.9 steals per game.  She recorded an average of 10.5 points and 2.1 steals per game during the league season. 

Bria Wasmund, a junior guard, was named to the Frontier Conference Second Team.  She averages 10.5 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 steals for Dakota State.  She averaged 11.0 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 steals per game during the Frontier Conference season.

No. 3 seed Dakota State carries their 26-5 overall record this weekend at DSU Fieldhouse as they open their NAIA National Tournament First Round versus No. 14 seed Grand View (Iowa) Friday evening at 5:30 p.m.  No. 6 seed Concordia (Neb.) faces No. 11 Bethel (Kan.) in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m. on the same night.

Friday's winners will face each other on Saturday evening at 6 p.m., vying for a spot to the final site at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, from March 19 through March 24.
