SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) used a big early offensive surge and capitalized on defensive miscues to cruise past Dickinson State (N.D.) 11-2 in Frontier Conference baseball action on Sunday at Sanford Sports Complex.  The six Frontier Conference baseball teams continued their action in the two-day jamboree.
The Trojans improved to 10-14 overall and remained unbeaten in Frontier Conference with a 3-0 record, while the Blue Hawks fell to 13-13 overall and 0-3 in the league. How it happened
Dakota State wasted no time setting the tone, plating a run in the first inning on an RBI single by George Hogan. The Trojans then broke the game open in the second inning, scoring three runs—two of which were unearned due to Dickinson State errors—to take a commanding 4-0 lead.
DSU added two more runs in the third, aided by aggressive baserunning and DiSU's defensive mistakes, and another unearned run in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-0.
Dickinson State finally broke through in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Jadyn Roberts, but Dakota State answered emphatically in the sixth. The Trojans erupted for four runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Aiden Barfuss and an RBI knock by Aidan Perry, pushing the margin to 11-1.
Roberts added an RBI triple in the seventh inning for Dickinson State's final run, but Dakota State starter Hayden Leighty closed out the complete-game effort to secure the 11-2 victory. Team Statistics
