MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) throwers competed on the first day of the NCAA Division II Wayne State (Neb.) Wildcat Open at WSC Memorial Stadium.
Zachary Haugen improved his mark in the hammer throw, as he inched closer to the NAIA 'A' automatic qualifying mark.
He threw 57.78 meters (189 feet, 6 inches) to finish third in the hammer throw for the Trojans. His mark is the third best in the NAIA.
Luke Borowicz threw 48.27 meters (158 feet, 4 inches) in the hammer throw followed by
Lukus Mentele with 47.76 meters mark (156 feet, 8 inches).
Dylan Johansen posted a personal record 46.20 meters toss (151 feet, 7 inches).
Tarin Bingham posted a mark of 44.60 meters (146 feet, 4 inches).
Kolter Simon led DSU with 44.19 meters (144 feet, 11 inches) for a ninth-place finish in the javelin throw.
Xander Sheehan added 41.27 meters (135 feet, 4 inches), followed by
Bergen Irey with 35.46 meters mark (116 feet, 4 inches).
Dakota State continues their action on the second day of the Wildcat Open Saturday with a full day of events, starting at 11 a.m.
