DICKINSON, N.D. – Frontier Conference's softball leader Dickinson State (N.D.) used timely hitting and big innings in both games to complete a doubleheader sweep over Dakota State (S.D.) Sunday afternoon at Bravera Field, winning 8-3 in Game 1 and 10-1 in five innings in Game 2.
Dakota State fell to 13-29 overall record and 5-17 Frontier Conference record. Dickinson State, who ballooned their winning streak to 14 games, lifted their overall record to 30-12 and 18-4 record in the league.
Game 1: Dickinson State 8, Dakota State 3 – FINAL
Dakota State struck first with a strong opening inning, but Dickinson State responded quickly and pulled away late to secure the win.
The Trojans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when
Emmalynn Rabe delivered a two-RBI single to center, scoring
Gabrielle Ortega-Alves and
Julia Maldonado.
Dickinson State answered with a three-run second inning, highlighted by RBI hits from Viennah Meyer and Allyson Farrington, plus an RBI groundout from Izzy Kelly, to take a 3-2 lead.
The Blue Hawks extended their advantage in the fourth when Meyer blasted a two-run home run, pushing the lead to 5-2. Dickinson State added three more runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach at 8-2.
Dakota State added its final run in the seventh on an RBI fielder's choice by
Brenley Goebel.

Dickinson State carried its momentum into Game 2, scoring in every inning and breaking the game open with a five-run fifth inning to end the contest early via run rule.
The Blue Hawks took an early lead with an RBI double by Brooke Lijewski in the first inning, then added another run in the second on a sacrifice fly by Meyer.
Dakota State scored its lone run in the third inning when Maldonado drove in Goebel with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-1.
However, Dickinson State responded with eight unanswered runs, including:
- A two-run home run by Stocktyn Stevenson in the fourth
- A four-run fifth inning fueled by RBI hits from Octavia Meyer and Farrington
