DES MOINES, Iowa and INDIANOLA, Iowa – Dakota State (S.D.) competed in two different meets Friday at the 116
th annual Drake Relays at Bulldog Stadium and Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College (Iowa). The Trojans highlighted with a relay title and NAIA 'B' standard mark.
Kip Janvrin Open
The Trojans began the day by winning the 4 x 100-meter relay title. The team members of
James Burke,
Jagger Lombard,
Talon George, and
Lukas Bennett captured the title with a season best time of 42.43 seconds. They edged Central College (Iowa) by .03 seconds.
Nolan Slominski clocked a time of 1 minute, 59.87 seconds in the 800-meter run for DSU.
Tyler Nicke followed up with a time of 2:00.11.
Blake Schmiedt posted his season best time of 10 minutes, 33.74 seconds in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Joshua Tucker registered a career best time of 15 minutes, 46.22 seconds in the 5000-meter run for Dakota State.
Drake Relays
Oliver Tordsen threw an NAIA 'B' standard mark of 50.88 meters (166 feet, 11 inches) to finish 10
th in the discus for the Trojans.
Brock Krueger leaped 13.78 meters (45 feet, 2.5 inches) to place 11
th in the triple jump.
Tysen Grinde competed in the high jump and did not clear the 1.98 meters clearance (6 feet, 6 inches).
Lombard and Bennett returned to Des Moines after running the 4 x 100-meter relay. They competed in a pair of relays.
The 4 x 200-meter relay of Lombard,
Ben Witt,
Aaron Van Hemert, and Bennett finished with a time of 1 minute, 33.82 seconds.
Lombard, Bennett, Witt, and
Franklin Johns teamed up for a season best time of 3 minutes, 22.28 seconds in the 4 x 400-meter relay.

Dakota State concludes their three-day Drake Relays Saturday. The Trojans also compete in the Drake Alternative meet, held in Saint Peter, Minn.
