MADISON, S.D. -The Trojans remain undefeated this Fall CCL Season, cruising past their mid-season match against #2 Dickinson State 2-0.
The Trojans opened the series with a clutch match as Aleksandr Billey singled handedly secure the win by eliminating two Dickinson State (N.D.) players in a 2 vs.1 matchup. The Trojans continued in round two, shutting down the Blue Hawk's defense in a flawless round victory.
The Blue Hawks slowed down the Trojans' pursuit in round three to get themselves on the scoreboard 2-1.
Round four through eight, Dakota State claimed a flawless round. Billey secured a double elimination for the Trojans in round five, followed by a triple elimination in round six. Ayden Johnson helped the Trojans increase their lead 7-1 by flanking the Blue Hawks and taking a double elimination for himself in round eight.
Match Halftime
Dickinson State was not ready to throw in the towel and made a comeback in round nine, catching the Trojan defenders off guard and enabling them to flank the Trojans and secure a flawless round win.
Round ten to fourteen featured Trojan takeover. Billey made a stance in round eleven by eliminating three Blue Hawk attackers, following suit, Johnson clocked in a double elimination, while Carson Boyle led the team to two more round victories with a double elimination to flawless round and another double in the following round.
Round fifteen the Trojans were in hot pursuit of the match win with a 12-2 lead. Calvin Stumpf stepped in for the Trojans and closed out the match with a four-person elimination, earning a match victory by the score of 13-2 over the Blue Hawks.
Match Two
The Trojans faced a slowdown in the second match of the series. The Blue Hawks won the first two rounds. Dakota State put a stop on Dickinson State's run with Boyle winning a clutch 1 vs. 1 situation at the end of round three, putting the Trojans on the scoreboard.
In round four, the Trojans started to show momentum and won a 2 vs. 2 matchup to tie the score at 2-2. The next four rounds featured Trojan defenders and Blue Hawk Attackers going back-to-back in scoring rounds before leading into halftime tied at 4-4.
Match Halftime
Coming out of halftime, Stumpf commanded the round by eliminating all five players on the Blue Hawks' team for a player ace for Dakota State's 5-4 lead. Johnson weighed in on round ten by bringing home a four-person elimination, giving the Trojans a two-point lead at 6-4.
Round eleven to thirteen, Dakota State went without losing a single player for three flawless round victories.
The Trojans simply would not be stopped and continued with a charging energy in the last four rounds of the match. Trevor Schlechter secured two eliminations in the final round and Stumpf closed out the match with a 13-4 win and series win of 2-0.
The Trojans are ranked number one in the Fall CCL Valorant League with a 4-0 record.
Dakota State's Valorant squad will play next Sunday against South Dakota State University at 8 p.m.
