MADISON, S.D. - Dakota State bounced back with a 2-0 win over the University of Jamestown (N.D.) in the second week of Collegiate Champions League (CCL) play.
The Trojans set an early lead in the first match over the Jimmies, securing the first drake buff and winning some ground in the mid lane and bottom lane of the map. Â
Jamestown made a comeback later in the match after catching DSU off guard in the jungle area of the map, eliminating three Trojan players. Â
Cobain Goehring rallied the Trojans' squad by pulling three UJ players to his location in the top lane jungle. Micah McRunnel and Kenneth Walker made the opportunity to take the first tower of the game in the bottom lane. Dakota State continued to push the bottom and mid lane by taking four more towers before making a final push on the Jimmies final objective, the nexus. Â
DSU made a final aggressive push by overtaking the Jimmies' defense and securing the nexus and the first match win.Â
The Trojans continued a rampage in match two for another early lead over UJ. Goehring found the first elimination of the match with assistance from Brock Zirpel and Christian Lor.Â
Goehring continued a prominent stand in the mid lane, denying any progression from Jamestown. Meanwhile, the Trojans secured an opening in the Jimmies' defense and took the first tower of the match in the bottom lane. Â
The Trojans would then make a run at the Nexus, crowding UJ's home base. The Jimmies' defense could not handle Dakota State's quick attack as they flanked on three sides to take the UJ Nexus. DSU won the second match 22-4 and the series win 2-0.Â
McRunnel paced the Trojans with 15 eliminations and 13 assists. Lor followed with nine eliminations and 24 assists. Goehring tallied 15 eliminations and 12 assists. Zirpel registered eight eliminations and 14 assists. Walker had one elimination and 22 assists.Â
Dakota State is ranked fourth in the Fall CCL League of Legends Division.Â
DSU's LoL will play against the University of South Dakota next Monday at 8 p.m.Â
