MADISON, S.D. - The Dakota State University Trojan Valorant came out of the gate a little icy, losing the first round to the Mystic's. DSU then went on to rally and win the next five rounds, two of them being flawless victories. The Trojans took momentum for the rest of the match, with Aleksandr Billey leading the Trojans with an outstanding twenty-four eliminations and five assists. The Trojans secured the first match with a final score of 13-3.
In the second match, the spark continued to shine. The Trojans continued to push the Mystics out of each round, only allowing Bismarck State to earn a single round victory. Aydan Johnson led the Trojans with with 19 eliminations and 9 assists. Trevor Schlechter added 16 eliminations and 6 assists. Billey collected 9 eliminations and 14 assists. Carson Boyle registered 11 eliminations and 2 assists, and Calvin Stumpf had 9 eliminations and 4 assists. Dakota State earned a match win of 13-1 and a series win of 2-0.
DSU's Valorant will play next Sunday (Sept. 24) at 8 p.m. against Minnesota State University Moorhead.
