SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Six Dakota State (S.D.) long distance runners competed in the second annual NAIA Marathon Classic Sunday morning at California International Marathon. Four men's runners and two women's runners completed the marathon race, with a pair of Trojans placing in the top 10.
Taylor Myers ran in his second straight NAIA Marathon Classic meet, placing sixth overall in the NAIA men's division. He clocked a personal record time of 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 56 seconds, which is the second-best time in the DSU men's marathon school history. It was the second straight year that Myers had produced top eight place finishers, where each of the top eight individuals received the NAIA plaque.
Joshua Tucker ran his first marathon at Dakota State, finishing 24
th overall in the NAIA men's race for the Trojans. He registered a time of 2 hours, 39 minutes, and 41 seconds. His time is the ninth best time in school history.
Jonah Thiele and
Reese Henrie also ran in their first marathon race at DSU. Thiele finished 28
th in 2 hours, 42 minutes, and 50 seconds. Henrie was 42
nd in 2 hours, 53 minutes, and 19 seconds.
Brooke Beaucaire improved her marathon personal record time, finishing with a time of 3 hours, 4 minutes, and 3 seconds. She finished ninth overall in the NAIA women's division. Her time is a new DSU women's marathon record, breaking the previous record held by Karen Mayfield with a time of 3 hours, 16 minutes, and 47 seconds in 2016.
Madelyn Sylva ran in her first marathon race at Dakota State, producing the fourth fastest time in DSU women's marathon history. She finished 18
th overall in 3 hours, 21 minutes, and 26 seconds.
Dakota State wraps up their 2024 calendar year as they return to indoor track & field action. The Trojans head to Mitchell, S.D., on Friday and Saturday for the Dakota Wesleyan Snow Tiger Meet. The indoor track & field meet takes place at DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Center.
