Amelie Steins of Dakota State (S.D.) continued her action in the women's heptathlon on the second day of the 2025 U.S. Marines NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday at Wildcat Stadium. Indiana Wesleyan was the host for the three-day national meet.
Steins kicked off the day with a 5.17 meters long jump mark (16 feet, 11.5 inches) for 606 points. She followed up with 480 points after throwing 30.17 meters (99 feet) in the javelin.
She finished the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 52.25 seconds, tallying 440 points for the Trojans.
Steins placed 12
th overall in the NAIA women's heptathlon with a total of 4,324 points. She improved her national seed to two spots from No. 14 to No. 12. It was her first appearance at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships at Dakota State.
Abi Stevens of Southern Oregon claimed the national heptathlon title with 4,961 points.
Casey Olson received her NAIA All-America medal and plaque on the podium stand Thursday afternoon. She finished sixth during Wednesday's evening javelin with her school record 41.97 meters (137 feet, 8 inches).
Olson was the first women's javelin thrower to be named NAIA All-America, the sixth female outdoor track & field athlete in program history at DSU.
Thursday marked the end of the Dakota State women's outdoor track & field season at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. It also marked the final women's national meet for DSU's head coach
