DSU climbs one spot to No. 6 in latest NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 rankings

Trojans post 6th straight 20-plus wins, carry 9-game winning streak

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Dakota State (S.D.) climbed one spot to No. 6 in the latest 2025-26 NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 national poll, the sixth installment of the national poll was announced by the national office Wednesday.

DSU had produced their sixth consecutive season of 20-plus wins, holding an overall record of 21-3 prior to games in Montana this weekend.  Dakota State registered 428 points to the national poll, ranking in the NAIA's Top 10 throughout the season.

The Trojans ballooned their winning streak to nine games after earning a home weekend sweep over Montana teams.  Dakota State defeated current No. 23 ranked Rocky Mountain (Mont.) 69-62 on Feb. 6 and Carroll (Mont.) 70-34 on Feb. 7 at DSU Fieldhouse, remaining undefeated at home this season with 12-0 record.

Dakota State is 16-2 record in the Frontier Conference, holding a two-game lead with four conference games remaining.  The Trojans visit Montana Western on Friday evening and current No. 17 ranked Montana Tech on Saturday evening.  Both games are set to tip off at 6 p.m. (Central Time)/5 p.m. (Mountain Time).

DSU closes out their home regular season schedule next weekend versus Dickinson State (N.D.) and Bismarck State (N.D.) at DSU Fieldhouse.

Three other Frontier Conference teams are ranked inside NAIA's Top 25.  Montana Tech dropped four spots from No. 13 to No. 17 with 18-4 overall record and 219 points.  Rocky Mountain remained No. 23 with 16-8 overall record and 103 points.  Carroll returned to the NAIA's Top 25 at No. 25 with an overall record of 16-8 and 75 points. 

MSU-Northern received votes recognition with 14 points with an overall record of 16-7.

The four-day Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Postseason Tournament is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 27 through Monday, March 1 at Butte Civic Center in Butte, Mont.  The postseason tournament schedule will be released after the regular season schedule has concluded next weekend.

The seventh and final NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 national poll will be released on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
