WAYNE, Neb. – Dakota State (S.D.) produced an NAIA 'A' automatic qualifying mark on the second day of the Wildcat Open, hosted by NCAA Division II Wayne State (Neb.) at WSC Memorial Stadium.
Oliver Tordsen improved his personal record 54.10 meters (177 feet, 6 inches) to earn second place in the discus for the Trojans. His mark is the second best in DSU men's outdoor track & field school history behind his older brother and former NAIA All-America discus Connor Tordsen with 54.47 meters (178 feet, 8 inches) in 2023).
Lukus Mentele added a sixth-place finish in the discus with 48.19 meters mark (158 feet, 1 inch). Other discus results included
Zachary Haugen – 42.62 meters – 139 feet, 10 inches,
Keegan Hensley – 39.99 meters – 131 feet, 2 inches, and
Dylan Johansen – 36.59 meters – 120 feet.
Tordsen led the Trojans with a seventh-place finish in the shot put, tossing 14.81 meters (48 feet, 7.25 inches). Mentele followed up with an eighth-place finish with 14.58 meters (47 feet, 10 inches).
Trenton Moran tossed 14.15 meters (46 feet, 5.25 inches), Johansen with 13.70 meters mark (44 feet, 11.5 inches), and Hensley with 12.81 meters (42 feet, .5 inches).
Brock Krueger captured the triple jump title for Dakota State, leaping 13.40 meters (43 feet, 11.75 inches).
Tanner Drietz added 12.90 meters (42 feet, 4 inches).
Trevor Heinz led the Trojans in the long jump, placing fourth with 6.90 meters mark (22 feet, 7.75 inches). Drietz leaped 6.12 meters (20 feet, 1 inch), while
Daniel Agyeman recorded 5.96 meters (19 feet, 6.75 inches).
Bergen Irey and
Dawson Miller cleared the high jump with 1.77 meters (5 feet, 9.75 inches). Irey registered a time of 18.44 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles.
Tyler Nicke recorded a time of 4 minutes, 18.99 seconds in the 1500-meter run for Dakota State. Other 1500-meter run results included

Franklin Johns earned a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter run in 51.49 seconds.
Jagger Lombard led the Trojans with a time of 10.65 seconds, placing third in the 100-meter dash.
Lukas Bennett followed up with a fifth-place finish in 10.68 seconds. Other 100-meter dash results included James Burk – 11.25 seconds,
Trevor Heinz – 11.48 seconds, and
Connor Schmidt – 11.69 seconds.
Lombard was seventh in the 200-meter dash in 22.01 seconds, followed by Bennett eighth with a time of 22.06 seconds. Other DSU 200-meter dash results included
Weston Frangenberg – 22.64 seconds,
James Burke – 23.06 seconds,
Ben Witt – 23.64 seconds, and
Payton Anderson – 24.23 seconds.
Dakota State continues their action next weekend with another two-day outdoor track & field meet. The Trojans head to Vermillion, S.D., for the NCAA Division I University of South Dakota Early Bird meet.
