VERMILLION, S.D. – Ten Dakota State (S.D.) men's athletes produced personal record on the first day of the NCAA Division I outdoor track & field meet, the University of South Dakota Tune Up. The two-day outdoor track & field meet was held at Lillibridge Track & Field Complex, featuring numerous NCAA Division I (Summit League schools) and II schools, along with North Star Athletic Association's member Bellevue (Neb.).
Xander Sheehan placed seventh in the javelin after throwing 46.55 meters (152 feet, 8 inches) for the Trojans.
Caleb Sayler ran a time of 15 minutes, 39.23 seconds to finish ninth in the 5000-meter run.
Joshua Tucker registered a time of 16 minutes, 21.86 seconds in the same race.
Tysen Grinde cleared the high jump of 1.94 meters (6 feet, 4.25 inches) to finish tenth.
Bergen Irey cleared the height of 1.74 meters (5 feet, 8.5 inches).
Chantz Minear clocked a time of 57.90 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles for DSU.
Bryant Paulsen posted a season best time of 1 minute, 4.63 seconds in the race.
All three Trojan runners recorded personal record time in the 800-meter run, led by
Blake Schmiedt with a 10
th-place finish in 2:00.13.
Dawson Miller followed up with a time of 2:00.39, and
David Brock in 2:05.25.
Lane Henrichs led DSU with a personal best time of 4 minutes, 6.79 seconds in the 1500-meters.
Logan Recoy added a personal record time of 4:06.87, followed by
Curtis Johnson with a season best time of 4:09.99.
Tyler Nicke recorded a time of 4:11.93,
Franklin Johns with a career best 4:12.83,
Yohannes Kassa with a personal record time of 4:13.03,
Grayson Madsen with a personal record 4:16.57, and
Lucas Harr with a season best time of 4:45.43.
Lukus Mentele tossed a season best 14.80 meters (48 feet, 6.75 inches) in the shot put for Dakota State.
Robert Begalka hit a personal record mark of 13.92 meters (45 feet, 8 inches), followed by
Dylan Johansen with a season best of 13.22 meters (43 feet, 4.5 inches) mark.
Dakota State concludes their regular season meet on Saturday on the second day of the USD Tune Up meet. The first events are scheduled for 9 a.m. at Lillibridge Track & Field Complex.
