Amelie Steins of Dakota State (S.D.) earned her second Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field weekly honors of the season Tuesday, the sixth edition of the weekly honors were announced by the conference office. It was her first time this season that she was named to the league's Field Athlete-of-the-Week, where she received her first weekly honor as the Track Athlete-of-the-Week earlier this season.
Steins highlighted the Trojans by winning the heptathlon title at the 2026 Frontier Conference Multi-Events Championships on April 19-20 in Dickinson, N.D. She posted her career and school record of 4,769 points, breaking the previous school record of 4,375 points by herself last season.
During the conference heptathlon, Steins was the top long jumper in the field after leaping 5.74 meters (18 feet, 10 inches). She also threw 28.96 meters (95 feet) in the javelin, cleared the height of 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch) in the high jump, and tossed 9.36 meters (30 feet, 8.5 inches) in the shot put.
Steins was the top runner in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.59 seconds and produced a personal record 25 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Her 200-meter dash time is the second fastest time in school history.
Steins also added a personal record in the 800-meter run to conclude the heptathlon, hitting a time of 2 minutes, 36.10 seconds for DSU.
She went to the 116
th annual Drake Relays last week and recorded 5.71 meters long jump mark (18 feet, 9 inches. She placed ninth in the field of 19 jumpers, with numerous athletes from NCAA Division I and II. She was the only NAIA jumper that advanced to the final round.
Steins was a member of the 4 x 400-meter relay team with
RayLee Wallis,
Molli Thornton, and
Caitlin Dyer that hit the NAIA 'B' qualifying mark during the Drake Relays. They also produced a school record time of 3 minutes, 51.75 seconds. They broke the previous school record of 3:56.23 earlier this season.
Amelie is a native of Dusseldorf, Germany, and is a junior integrated biology major at Dakota State University.
Dakota State prepares for the two-day Frontier Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday. The conference meet return to Biesiot Activities Center in Dickinson. The women's javelin kicks off on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. (Central Time)/12:30 p.m. (Mountain Time).
